In all seriousness, he should start in the ECHL and hopefully establish himself as a player right off the bat. Maybe he turns into a decent bottom-six guy for us one day. But he didn't make utica... LOL.
The only way Benning could please everyone is if he traded Vey for Crosby and even then some troll would say "why didn't he add a pick"

I'm thinking there is going to be a number of these players that they won't re-sign, as a number of contracts are up for renewal. Yeah my thoughts as well. I know something meaningful is coming , but after the last few years , I'm getting pretty impatient . Lol
canuckledraggin
Not much footage on this kid except for a few fights and a bit from his draft year in 2013. 2-way guy with grit, determination, character, hustle and all the other JB buzzwords. Definitely has good wheels and looks like a PK specialist. Great signing for Utica, but I'm with a bunch of people here saying I'm not sure if an AHL deal couldn't have been done 1st to see if he'll be a good pro or not. The only risk is putting us closer to the 50 contracts, but I think he makes 46 so not that big of a deal. Looks like an Alex Burrows from what I can see. Zoolander
Always the last to leave the rink? Seems like the kinda guy we need around here. Solid pickup! Also loved the fight vs Sylvester...that was impressive
Odd.
That, his skating is something different from what we have. Absolutely electric.

JohnLocke
He's here so that Pierre-Luc Dubois doesn't feel awkward being the only guy on the Canucks with a hyphenated first name.
DeNiro
Interesting to note that he's a teammate of Vitali Abramov who will likely be an early second round pick. I could definitely see this being a player Benning is interested in. Smallish player but very dynamic and is a terrific skater.
FrankieCorrado
Not a huge signing but it can't hurt to give the guy a shot, you never know.
JeremyCuddles
I like it. At the same time won't be upset if nothing comes of it. Dorsett replacement down the line possibly.

Top_Shelf
Pretty good scouting report on him. I love the fact he has the nose for the net, where he scored most of his goals from and terrific skater. And it doesn't seem he's afraid to drop the gloves. He's going to potentially add good depth in the bottom 6, most likely starting out in Utica. Let's see how he does. And yes he does look like a mix of Lappiere and Lucic. Nice signing Benning!
Beary Sweet
He's an ideal line mate for Dubois. If he slips to us at 5 which is very likely to happen since Oilers likely to pick best defensemen, he's an instant impact player for the Canucks. Can't wait
CRAZY_4_NAZZY
JB adding an element that very few of any of our prospects have. Its also nice to find these kind of players in the rough without having to waste a draft pick, which could be spent on finding higher level of skill. A physical, gritty, high intensity edge to their game. Jake Virtanen has a bit but doesn't display it enough consistently. I see a lot of Andrew Shaw potential in this kid. Pavel can really chuck the fists too...guy who can play a regular shift and be physical in my mind is a guy worth always giving a look. Plus a free prospect! the kids a gamer! oldnews
HF fwiw... Talent Analysis One of the main questions that need to be answered after a player misses significant time due to injury is how their game might be affected when they return. For Laplante, there was no such fear. He continues to throw his body around with reckless abandon, and to play hard in the corners and along the boards. Laplante only appears to have one gear and that is full tilt hockey, shift after shift. He can also hold his own offensively, with a nose for the net and good playmaking abilities.
