[proposal] Draft Day• Van - Vegas • Miller for Knights 1st overall

Recommended Posts

Won't happen. Miller is a UFA after this season and all Vegas will have to do is submit an offer to him (and they get to keep their draft pick!!). I wouldn't mind having 2 1st round picks for this draft, but the 2nd pick will have to come a different way.

Tittle says it all boys and girls,. Maybe we add a prospect like Subban if we need to.. But I think the Knights and GM McPhee might be very interested in solidifying a good, proven goaltender to build their franchise from, rather than take a chance on what seems to be a dull roar year for drafting.

Markstrom is solid, and Demko is tapping the goal posts to position himself next season.

Miller would be closer to home (L.A.) and family.

Something where everyone could be happy.. how about you?

If Vegas wanted Miller that bad they would just take him in the expansion draft. Why give up assets (1st round pick) to get someone you could have for free. Vancouver will not protect Miller, then he's a UFA so he could stay or go, but Vegas will have the time to figure it out.

Jim Benning is that you, proposals like this are why your fan base question your GMing  abilities

Why trade for a goalie when there will be some decent goalies available in expansion.  Bishop, Fleury, Elliot, Neimi and even Miller are available and will cost them no assets.

Why trade a top 5 pick for a player that you can have for free?

Bishop. 30yrs 5.9m UFA 2017

Fleury.  32yrs 5.7m UFA 2019 (nm-mntc)

Elliot. 31yrs 2.5 RFA 2017

Neimi. 33yrs  4.5m UFA 2018 (currently ntc- mntc 2018)

Miller 36yrs 6.m 2017 UFA

(currently mntc 5 teams).

Bishop UFA 2017 will continue to look for big money.. or less to stay in TB (team & less tax)

Fleury UFA 2019 is not consistent, may seem diminished to other teams.. high priced.

Elliot  RFA 2017.. great value, unless highly bid upon, Calgary should match.

Neimi UFA 2018 fair value unless management ready to part ways.

Miller UFA 2017 36yrs sure to want ability to control his destiny before hitting insecurity of open market. Sure to sign fair value or less for this. Has had his moneymaker years.

just my thoughts FB

First- We can't sign him again to do this?

Secondly- Miller is and has been playing better than a chance at a 3rd rounder,. let alone one caught up in some other system.

We sign him to protect him and it leaves Markstrom exposed. Vegas just claims Markstrom then and laughs at our trade offer.

Seriously, take a few minutes to think through the possibilities.

But choosing them through expansion means they don't loose a top prospect that they need to build a team around.  That first round pick can be Nico Hischier, what do you think is more important to a new franchise.  A 36 year old goalie with maybe 1 (2 tops) years left. Or an exciting young star in the making that will sell jersey and put seats in the stands?

Jesus Christ man you cannot be serious.  This is comical on so many levels, the first being that Miller is a UFA and Vegas could sign him for free.  Second being is Miller is no where near the value of a 3rd rounder let alone the first overall pick.

agree we would have to give more but they will pick third overall not first unless they win the draft

Like the majority of canuck players miller's value (due to age, contract expiring, skill etc) is no where close to a 1st round pick.

Put this one up there with __________(insert Canuck trash) for ____________(another teams player that is better than any we have). I know McPhee is not the sharpest tool in the shed and probably cost Vancouver Gretzky back in the day but this would be far far worse than anything else he has done/could do.
