there have been some good things, but i'll always remember 2017 as the year my brother died.

i'm hoping most cdc'ers have  good memories of 2017.

happy new year all.

Sorry for your loss, Joe. :(

For me, 2017 was filled with changes, both professionally and personally. It was filled with highs and lows, setbacks and growth.

There was lots of pain, heartbreak, and disappointment, but sprinkled with joy, excitement, and fun throughout.

I'm grateful for the moments I got to spend with friends and family, seeing my cousin's baby go from being a preemie (and being in an incubator) to becoming a healthy, happy little baby, and the lessons learned throughout.

Cheers to a better and brighter 2018!

A lot of my friends live in the US so I'll remember 2017 as a year of great political and social turmoil. On a personal level it kind of flew by and nothing particularly remarkable happened, there were good times but it still feels like I've been stuck in limbo the last few years.

Hoping 2018 is a year I can make changes and take steps that I'm proud of. I've no resolutions but I wanna try harder to be happy/work towards being happy this year.

My mother's health went off a cliff in 2017. I didn't even know she was ill. She kept it from me. One day she called me and said she's ready to move to Vancouver. I was so excited to have her near me during the last chapter of her life.

In a two week period of her saying that, I had to fly back east and take her to the hospital. She spent three weeks in there before I took her home.

It's now been four months on the east coast and I'm waiting to get her into a nursing home. It'll happen soon.

My advice to anyone in 2018, talk about the future with your parents, plan ahead as much as possible. Get stuff in place before it's too late. The only thing that has made this easy is that my mother planned and prepared for this day. I just had to come here, sign documents, and do the right thing.

The worst part in coming back to the east coast ... Canucks games are on at 11pm.

The year I became a man. At least in my own opinion. By this I mean I shot an unsuspecting animal and paid for internet porn with my own credit card.

Jokes aside, I do mean it when I say this is the year I “became a man”. Finding intrinsic motivation in myself in all my pursuits, taking accountability for my successes and (more importantly) my failures, being a good friend/family member to those I love and those who just simply needed it, volunteered oodles of free time to the community, and stopped giving a rat’s arse about the things I can’t control.

I wouldn’t say 2017 was a particularly special year in any one regard but it was a big year for me, if that makes sense. And to boot, found the love of my life in the form of a 190 pound sh*t for brains mutt in need of a good home.

All the best to my fellow CDC’ers in 2018 and congrats on another year in the books. Stay safe tonight (@Twilight Sparkle)   and I’ll see y’all on the other side (2018).

Happy for you; man.....way to be strong.

Unfortunately, I'll remember 2017 for negative reasons....we lost one of the great songwriters of our time in Tom Petty....a scumbag decided to shoot up a country music festival....and we endured the worst summer for wildfires in our history.

2018 can't help but improve...

I tend to do it every year...generally during winter.  Optimism begins again in May.

I'm not a winter guy either.

It's decided. New Year's resolutions can be deferred until May!  ::D

The year that a large faction of society came out as "perpetually offended".

I have not been alive for the length of humanity's existence but having a hard time not thinking that 2017 reached a new low in personal accountability across our planet.
