Canuck Surfer
Didn't he see what Sbisa got 3 years ago? (They're kinda the same, right?)

It's good for the Jets in the short-term, but if Morrissey continues to progress, it will cost more to sign him long-term than it would now. At least this will give them a few years of cap relief. rekker
Bridge deal. I suspect TO is trying to do something similar with Nylander but Nylander's camp isn't biting.
Fanuck
Morrissey knows Jets will be strong this year - they are legit contenders. He's got a shot at a cup with them. Doubtful he takes this type of discount (as some might say he's doing) if its AZ, or Ottawa, ect....
JeremyCuddles
Sign cheap for 2 years, get a cup, sign long term for big bucks. All apart of the process.

kacholu
This is how you manage the cap and not bilndly hand out contracts to guys like Sbisa, Stretcher, MD or EG

In two years, when this term is over, the player is a UFA and he has all the leverage. The Jets have a two year window.

Winnipeg will have cap problems next year. They have 12 players under contract for $55.6M which leaves them $23.9M to sign 11 more players. Those 11 players include Laine, Trouba, Myers, Connor and Roslovic.

oldnews
Nice to see the bridge deal remains alive - don't like the trend of players expecting long term deals after only a couple NHL seasons.
