What about at least getting ?EK?  If we trade Tanev, and don’t resign Edler we save about 9 million off the cap, right?  We sign EK to 11 million per season for 7 years, and aren’t we way better off?

I'd rather re-sign Edler and keep Tanev.  We still need good shut-down guys.

I understand that ?Edler and ?Tanev are still really good, but EK is great.  Would EK be too much too soon?  We are definitely a playoff team with him.  Do we need to wallow at the bottom (top of the draft) for a couple more years still?  See, I don’t think we do, providing we have EK.  He could be like Chara was (is still) to the Bruins.

Guardian never ceases to amaze me with his really dumb threads.

To me any thread is a good thread.  We get to talk hockey, and the Canucks.  I tried making a thread, but couldn’t figure out how to do it right.  :picard:

As for Matt Duchene.  He’s a piece of monkey poop, and I am confident JB has zero interest.  Now Mark

Stone is another issue.  That guy is a real hockey player.  Him, I’d want, but only as a UFA signing.

JB might make a trade this

TDL, but it certainly will not be for a rental.  If JB gives up future assists for a help us now guy, I will personally ride my scooter over his feet, and call him bad names, like @TheGuardian  :gocan:

 i prefer stone over ek

he is younger

cheaper

and so is the better investment

and he will compliment brock and ep40 very well

and provide a little protection for ep40

though i must confess, i'm pretty pleased with the spunk the leivo is showing

when he sees someone target ep40

but would be nice to have an elite talent on the left side of that line

How about Simmonds as a UFA?  Has some toughness, leadership, and scoring ability.  Can also play both wings.

@TheGuardian_ You should’ve just started a thread/discussion about how you feel this current management (and Benning in particular) isn’t properly rebuilding and explaining how they should use their assets according to you.

Instead, you start fear mongering about something that has zero traction...seems productive.

You must have missed all of his previous threads. It’s kindof his thing.

sure, there are other second tier candidates

but stone is elite

ep40 deserves elite players on both his wings

we want a balanced line

don't want ep40 to develop bad habits of attempting to go solo too much out of frustration

or he might regress and become mcdavid :P

Overpaying for one of the highly sought after options is how we got stuck with the LE contract.  I like Stone a lot, but he's going to be getting paid.  Would rather save the cap to retain our young studs.

I'm with @Alflives . Not that I'm convinced Karlsson would sign here, but you gotta try and if he wants to... You've got Karlsson and that (my awesome CDC people) would be &^@#ing wicked.

I think he's the best D man in the game.

UFA-wise, I'd love Ferland. @King Heffy's pick of Simmonds would be fine too.

Somebody with some weight to their game for our top 6.

I’d love Stone to join the team.

Remember he is a RW tho, so more likely that Boeser and Stone would be on different lines.

Something like:

Leivo EP Stone

Baer Bo Boeser

very very unlikely

that any of our young prospects

or those we will draft over the next few years

will mature to be as good as stone

he is rare . and a ufa if he is not re-signed or traded

rare that someone like him could possibly just be picked up for just a contract

i think he is worth signing

even if it means a future young talented has to be moved due to salarly cap issues

he is that good in my view

and really would fit the needs of our team as well

stone - ep40 - brock

would challenge to be the top 1st line in the entire league

biggest trade rip-off in recent history, Sakic deserves an Oscar for how he played Ottawa on that deal.

This thread should be moved over to "confessions" since its pretty much about @TheGuardian_ talking about his fears.

Fearmongering, and bashing Benning is his two core attributes.

His skating has been an issue this season.  It might be lingering injuries or just time catching up.
