Barrie was going to FA better to dump him for a decent return than walk for free

Kadri is only a slight upgrade over Kerfoot though.

So they’re essentially swapping Barrie for Rosen and a 3rd. Plus they’re retaining salary.

Youre telling me Benning couldn’t have swung a better deal?

Maybe at the deadline would have gotten more, but could risk season ending injury but still!

Avs are a team that makes smart calculated decisions Barrie IS testing FA so rip the band aid and send him packing and don't chance an injury.

It’s that conference thing again.  Too bad all the good available d men were in the West.

Except Risto, I suppose.

For everyone worshiping Sakic -- he got taken to the woodshed by Wunderboy.

Now if Barrie walks as UFA, then it looks a whole lot more even.  But right now?  I wouldn't have traded Barrie alone for that whole package.  Burnaby Joe must know he's ditching after next season, but would have thought he could do better than a hothead, aging prospect, and low pick.

The leafs are so desperate for cap space they gave up a 1st to get rid of Marleau. I dont think theres much hope for them to sign Barrie, this is a rental.

home run for the Avs who have Bowen byram to grow into the Tyson Barrie role. Avs were never going to bring him back. Kadri is a pest player that they could hang onto for a while. Leafs future isn’t looking too good right now....

Why swing a deal when we could get him for free?

The difference between Barrie and Karlsson is Barrie is set on going to FA

Barrie is 100% going to FA that is why Colorado was shopping him.

1. Leafs don't have the room to make a stupid offer

2. Barrie was being shopped by the Avs because he wants to test FA

They can always dump Nylander.

If Toronto wants to re-sign him they’ll find a way.

This deal makes no sense on Colorado’s end. It’s almost like they feel sorry for the Leafs D.

It makes perfect sense Barrie is 100% testing free agency lol

The leafs will be unable to retain Barrie at all.  Even with the retention.

Barrie will be moving on and where oh where could a guy like Tyson Barrie end up.

Hmmmm....

West coast maybe?

Could being the key word.

If Toronto offers him a 9 million dollar contract full of bonuses he might change his mind.

Why would the Avs do this?  You cant tell me that's the best they could do for Barrie

They seem to have wanted too much for him from Western teams by the sounds of it too risky for a guy who is testing FA
