Not many glaring holes anymore after re-upping Marner and adding Barrie, Muzzin, and Ceci. For one year only though. Will be interesting to see what happens to their defence in the offseason
Vinny in Vancouver
Apparently, Mitch Marner just wanted to wait until it was Friday the 13th before he signed. The best part about this signing is that this should cut down on all of the TSN Maple Leafs non-news (Mitch wants X amount; Mitch going to play in Europe, blahblahblah). Oh wait, they're still trying to decide on their Team Captain. Doh! Edited September 13, 2019 by vinny_in_vancouver
6string
11 minutes ago, HKSR said: Probably. They'll probably top up their blueline some more at TDL and go for it. Only problem I see is that they're pretty darn soft throughout the lineup now. Might spell doom if they match up poorly in the playoffs. Nylander is key here, if he produces decent points he saves Dubas's pathetic ass in possibly having a deal going through him. However a pillowy soft player has little appeal for playoff contending teams. While having Nylander producing on a team with studs in the top six, will GM's be convinced he can do the same in their lineup? The window in Tarana is a small one. Tystick
Marner set the bar. Should be a flurry of signings now.

I don't think so.......the bar for RFA is mostly set internally, imo. Edited September 13, 2019 by stawns
Kanukfanatic
Good god the leafs and dumbas are idiots. They keep screwing the entire league cap wise like they did length of contract wise with matthews. The rest of the league's GMs must just hate these idiots......just like most of us do but for different reasons. Now boeser is gonna want more. Oh...and like they said in thats hockey, the laughs top 4 players are earning 40 million per year haha.....good god. Pettersson is gonna get 12.5 per year when his contract is up. So since 94 points gets you $10.8 million AAV, that means that Boeser's 56 points should net him $6.43 million AAV. 1

Popular Post stawns
To me, Marners deal puts Boes' right around $5.5ish on a bridge deal. 2

Nuxfanabroad
Leafs are always a few steps ahead of us mere mortals. Guys like Mitchy & Hogtown-Nostrils are so valuable at 9 mill/per They just have to retain 2-3 mill on each guy & flip him for a motherlode of youth #Therealrebuild 1
*Buzzsaw*
What a complete f*ckng BOZO DUMBA$$ is. Guy has not only completed screwed up his own CAP but he is now setting a precedent with Marner/Matthews/Tavares/WeeWillie that is going to screw up the entire league... including the Canucks. His sheer incompetence in overpaying every player he had to sign will now force Benning to overpay Boeser... and all the other GM's who have RFA's to overpay their guys. Another reason to hate the freakin' Laffs. And of course the media in T.O. are absolutely fawning at his feet and giving praise to the heavens that a miracle has been done. 1
48MPHSlapShot
Less than I figured he would get. Still idiotic to have three guy sin the 11 mill ballpark on one team, but not a bad price, all things considered.

And if they put their entire bottom six forwards on LTIR they still wouldn't get half way there. The maple leafs roster is horribly lopsided.
