You are comparing to two of the very best NHL players in the history of NHL. Sedins, as great a players as they were, are not at the levels of Stevie Y or Crosby. I don't think Sedins were bad players defensively over their entire careers. They were not the strongest players and when their agility and quickness waned, so did their defensive game.
