He is more likely going to be on the 2nd pairing but that is OK too as we need a lot of different skill sets on the D. Honestly man, it was just a completely random thought. These are the prospects that should be left alone to brew. No expectations here at all.

I am drawing a blank here, I can’t even think of one. We have had two.........

When someone points out that your opinion conflicts with the facts, if you were to acknowledge that you were wrong, people would be less likely to continue to point out your error. I don’t think I’m wrong though, it’s probably a crazy coincidence but not a lot of good D come out of Finland. I wasn’t trying to bash anyone. I just think it’s a statistical anomaly that’s mildly entertaining. The Fins have pumped out so many forwards and goalies compared to defenseman and using Salo to somehow prove me wrong when I was just passively bringing up an observation is condescending without merit. I think it’s weird that Finland doesn’t produce THAT many TOP pairing defenders. @drummerboy Edited March 29, 2021 by Convincing John

I can’t believe it’s gone this far. I guess I’d expect a balanced Ratio of forwards, defence, goalies? The volume of D men isn’t lacking, it’s the quality. To have an opinion that goes against fact will get you a bunch of responses telling you that you’re wrong.

Not even our own beloved Sami Salo was quite top pair in actual deployment. You’d have a case for Heiskanen, Numminen, Vatenan in his heyday, certainly Timonen, even Lumme but the rest of the list hilights offensive specialists or solid 3/4’s. Not trying to troll at all, but I’m likely not settling for anyone other than Heiskanen on this list if I’m looking for a dominant, game changing/controlling #1. And I’m a steadfast and long time lover of the Finns!!!!! Edited March 29, 2021 by zimmy

Why this hit a nerve can only be explained by the dearth of actual game day fodder.

Thanks for the rope. It had no malice intent, I’ve always wondered why Finland has all these great forwards and goalies but a tiny handful of D that have played in an all star game or have been on a top pairing, It’s weird.
