509 cases here since Friday - no idea what the hell is going on in Calgary 589 cases wow

You think BC moved too fast - Alberta already opened casinos and theatres etc. Not sure about the strip bars :towel:

Yah, Alberta may have almost as  much  covid now as  Quebec.

I wonder  who advised Horgan for BC to invite Albertans to come spend their summer here in BC......

At least Ontario has a smart enough leader to not invite other provinces citizens to come and visit for the summer during a pandemic....

Why can't people just do a staycation at their home ?  Visit local parks or parks 1-2 hrs from home ....

Surely a hotel holiday isn't essential during a pandemic....  Jeesh.........

I just start commenting very loudly when people go the wrong way.
Also it helps me spot Trump voters, they either bitch about masks in the stores, or walk outside without one.

Perfect way to spot goobers.

Lol people like you are the problem.

You're really going to criticize people for not following the arrows on the store floor?

Lmao. If Dr bonnie told everyone that there is new evidence and the experts have come to the conclusion that the virus only lives 3 feet and above the ground. A lot of you would  be crawling everywhere on your hands and knees.

I notice different behaviours all around are segregated by the type of work you do. I am a tradesman and nobody wears masks. You walk onto any jobsite and nobody wears them, and nobody is getting sick and missing work either.

The panic is worse than the virus, go wrap your house with your stockpile of toilet paper to keep you safe lol.

These NHL playoffs cant start soon enough, we need a sense of normalcy around here .

The Staycation thing has backfired to some extent.  Problem is that with virtually no International travel, local resorts are absolutely inundated.  In July and August, many are travelling out of the country to Europe, Disney etc.. Because that is not possible, people are left to spend their vacation $$ within the province.

Come to the Kanagan, the complete opposite is happening here.  Everything is more packed than I've ever seen it and there is little to no social distancing at all.  Pubs are packed, nightclubs are packed, hotel parties, stores have completely abandoned their "limited number of customers" policy (not all).  In my opinion, we are in avery serious situation in the OKanagan.

I can attest to this.

Our local chamber of commerce in Penticton has stated this is the busiest season to date in almost a decade.

Our three largest hotels as well as air BNB and VRBO listings are at capacity with data suggesting over 80% of our tourists are from out of region.

Patios have started slipping extra tables in.  People are outright ignoring social distancing.  Hand sanitizer is no longer present everywhere.

The Okanagan is an absolute petri dish of lower mainland and albertan visitors.

It's on the brink of a bad situation here in the Kelowna-Lake Country-Vernon area

We're in Penticton.  Scared poopless because we know it's coming.  We're at the beach, Okanagan Lake and the peach concession is rarely seeing less than 20+ in their line from open to close.

Beaches beyond packed.  River channel so busy you could cross the river walking across floaties.  Every patio is insane, beach restaurants just have people waiting in multiple large groups on the street.

Oh ya man.  It's coming home.  No question.

That does not sound good.  We have another long weekend coming up as well.  The Province better be proactive about getting things under control or else we will see another 2 incubation periods of increasing infections.  My buddy had a week booked at a nice resort in Osoyoos for the end of the month.  After talking to the management of the hotel and asking questions about what they were doing about Covid, he cancelled right away.  He was not comfortable with the answers.  Most hotels here in the Lower mainland are running at less than full capacity intentionally.  Doesn't seem that way for many of the resorts in the Interior.

It's honestly shocking, I don't know how else to describe it.  This past weekend was absolutely insane in Lake Country........it died down a bit today, but it'll pick up again on Thursday.  Rec licence plates everywhere, way more than normal.

A staycation for me is doing day trips ( 1-2 hrs )  from my house back home each evening.

Hiking in quiet areas with few people.  PIcnic in quiet secluded places...  Very little public contact if any.

Trying to keep my bubble with my own family and 2 friends i have.    I have an older mom that i still visit outdoors on her patio.

Why do people feel the need to hotel in crowded urban towns during a pandemic ?

All businesses have to have a Covid safety plan in place and posted.  In my mind, it is virtually impossible for any business to be running at full or near full capacity when they have to provide the proper social distancing and sanitation measures.  Its like watching a bad car accident in slow motion.

We've all been generally happy about how the province has handled things so far but if they sit back and not do anything about this issue, all the good work will be undone.

Yeah, not happening in the okanagan, not here anyway.  The pub and marina have people jammed together, cars line the street for a cpl hundred metres in each direction.

Idk, maybe some need some human contact?  feel like they are getting away some where?  I have many places in the World on my bucket list to visit.  This will have to be paused for the next couple of years.  I only ever go to Whistler when relatives from overseas come and visit and I need to show them around.  I much rather spend my time at home or on a lake or river by myself.  Although the Okanagan is a nice place, I never had any desire to vacation there.

Nice saw some guys on Sunday and couple said they had caught a spring each.  I gotta get my licence and find time to get out again, would love some fresh fish.  Then I have to remember how to fish spring, been years since I tried.

If you don’t mind fishing for the fall chinook, there’s plenty of those.  That run is 5 times larger and in the coming years it’s projected to double because they’ve increased the production at the hatchery to provide more food for the Orcas in the Ocean.

Hmm.  I wonder if people need to list their Covid safety plan on Tinder now?

Ugh, drum circle at 3rd Beach (Global news had video) with people drumming, singing, dancing in very close proximity to one another.

Just announced that new guidelines will be set out today...mostly aimed at younger people.  Mostly focused on businesses though...restaurants where people are table hopping, hotels, etc.  But what about gatherings outside like this one that clearly ignore safe gatherings/numbers rules?  This is not ok!
