Saw it on my timeline, looks legit?

Yeah I dont really trust the Chinese government in a situation like this. They will be definitely trying to limit the effect this has on their economy. The only thing I dont understand where is the doctor getting at least 14 people at once?

That one puzzled me a bit too. I definitely dont trust the govt but for a doctor to say that is kind of weird. How would a virus know how many people are around and if people are close enough wouldnt it be possible to infect way more or way less. Seems a bit arbitrary to select 14 ppl. Although interestingly enough using the number 14 will definitely inflict more fear, due to its meaning in the culture.

Trump advisor Navarro says the US will keep its tariffs on China even if the coronavirus impact hurts growth

Wed 29 Jan 2020 22:16:37 GMT

White House trade advisor Peter Navarro

  • US will keep in place tariffs on Chinese imports
  • Even if the coronavirus begins to weigh on China's economy
CNBC's Carl Quintanilla asked whether a tariff rollback was on the table if China was abiding by the terms of the "phase one" trade deal but started to see its economy hurt by the coronavirus.
  • Navarro said. "That's a spin that's coming right out of Wall Street, and it really, I think, it does a disservice to this whole crisis to bring that into the discussion"

***************************

Quit being a**holes and drop or lower the tariffs. Peter Navarro can drop dead.

3 of the Japanese who returned from Wuhan on the govt flight are confirmed as having coronavirus

Thu 30 Jan 2020 00:22:46 GMT

The Japanese government has chartered planes to evacuate citizens from Wuhan in China

  • 3 of those who have returned have been diagnosed with the coronavirus

NHK, TV Asahi and Fuji TV all reporting

*********************

There's a test for this thing. Maybe test them before you load them all in a metal tube and lock them in. Just a thought, but congrats on importing 3 new cases of Coronavirus into your country.

Canada is preparing an evacuation flight for approx 160 people. Let's hope they're smarter than this bunch.

3 out of 206 on the flight out of Wuhan test positive. That's 1.5%. There's 11M people in Wuhan. 1.5% of 11M is 160,000 possible infections. Granted, it's a pretty small sample size for the math.

11 Wuhan residents traveling back from abroad were found infected with the coronavirus

Wed 29 Jan 2020 03:44:00 GMT

The Global Times conveying the report citing China customs

  • 11 Wuhan residents traveling back from abroad were found infected with the novel coronavirus as of 6 am Tuesday
So, its probably reasonable to say that some of these folks (likely all of them) headed away from Wuhan while inflected but not showing any symptoms, and by the time they returned began to show symptoms (fever, for example).

Its probably also reasonable to think they have infected others while away.

What a nightmare.

What a nightmare.

Common folk, like us, are pretty much the same all over the globe.  We just want our families to be safe, have enough food, and be together.  I sure hope the CDC gets ahead of this beast.

legit inquiry?

Typo...my comment should have read: " Neat. Let's NOT respond to legitimate inquiry and valid questions and go with non-sequitur statements and straw-man arguments.

Legit inquiry? Yes! If we've learnt anything by recent historical events (ie: 9/11, the subsequent war on terror, etc..), it's that it's very dangerous to sacrifice our critical faculties to the whims and opinions of the "official" fact checkers, the ruling political influencers of society or the court of popular opinion.

Those who question the official explanations for the coronavirus outbreak aren't rejecting the science of epidemiology or virology. That the virus CAN be found in and/or transmitted by both domesticated and wild animals doesn't necessitate that it is the ONLY way that humans can get the virus. It's documented fact that the Winnipeg level-4 NML lab has for some time been growing certain strains of the coronavirus for scientific research. Such research has been used to develop bio-weapons programs.

This isn't to say that this specific outbreak is the result of nefarious actions, but such an scenario does exist in the realm of possibility. Attempting to refute this possibility with nothing but a label of "conspiracy theory"  might appease the simple minds of the ignorant sheeple, but it's of little value when attempting to uncover or explain the truth.

Doubt nothing, question everything!

Really ticked to hear that YVR will be screening by....asking if people have flu like symptoms!!  "No"..."ok, go".

The powers that be have to start taking care of us without worrying about hurt feelings and relationships.  Those in charge had better act on this in a proactive not "after the fact" way.

You know they'll deny any wrong doing to if $&!# hits the fan.

I get your sentiment. But someone's personal lack of knowledge on a subject isn't grounds for a conspiracy. Or at least it shouldn't be.

The CDC has announced the 1st person-to-person spread of the coronavirus in the US. That happened in the state of Illinois.

Thu 30 Jan 2020 17:59:13 GMT

The CDC

The CDC is also saying that it is not possible to detect the coronavirus before symptoms emerge.

That's a new wrinkle about not being able to test for it before symptoms emerge.

WHO to hold press conference today. Expected to declare an emergency.
