To my estimation, Joulevi's qualifying offer should have been 1 year at $874,125. How the heck did they convince him to take $125 grand less than that? Was the QO a two-way deal? 14 3

Or would that offer be 2 way and this is 1 way Q-offer is 2-way; Juolevi just signed a one-way deal. 1

It's a manual addition by subtraction (if that makes any sense...when written in words, doesn't to me). Ok I think I get this. We have to reach to the cap ceiling to take advantage of another 3.5M off the LTIR

CRAZY_4_NAZZY
With the absence of a sound defensive minded LHD in Edler, Juolevi has room to grow into that role. If Juolevi can develop that part of his game and show case that at training camp, he might edge out Rathbone and Hunt who are primarily offensive dman.

Per Drance's tweet, I think it was a calculated decision to place himself in a more favorable position to make the team, if only based on cap considerations. It also means that if Juolevi is waived and ends up in the AHL, he will be paid $750K anyway. I have posted before that I think that based purely on waiver exemption status, I think Rathbone is really going to have blow everyone's socks off to make the opening night roster. Agreeing to the league minimum while also requiring waivers gives Juolevi a leg up to at least make the opening night roster. Training camp is going to be intriguing. 1 1 3

Popular Post Slegr
I have really liked Juolevi’s game so far. I’m really not sure why he didn’t receive more playing time earlier. He should be a solid #5 guy out there. Nice deal. 6

It's just a question of which player the $3.5M charged against. Chris Gear will figure out who that is and make sure that the team fits under the limit. But for us in never never land, it's just easy to say that Ferland gives the Canucks an extra $3.5M to play with. All the discussions around the technical definitions, and cap gymnastics can be left to the guys who actually get paid to figure it out. 2

They need to get him some long stretches of games to see what he can do.

Devron
Now we have a full roster on Cap Friendly. Petey and Dicky should replace Bailey and Di Giuseppe Hughes should replace Hunt That leaves Dowling for Podkolzin? See what happens there
