That is interesting.

Having said that,  there were crucial games this year that Lamikko was paired against top centres in R OReily , MacDavid and a couple others when Bo was out.

He played exceptional, given the task.

Id really like to see Uhaul get more opportunity like that this season,.  And now with Chaisson gone.   Some opportunity around the crease in the pp.

Wr have players that NEED more opportunities,  the lack of controls the ability to reach their true potential.

Yeah Baby!

We had a few guys that helped out and The U-Haul Truck Full A Nucks was great even after it lost its Motter.

Highmore was really good, and of course it was nice to see Will up with the big club.

Guys like this should be back and not taking up much cap.

Lammy was in way over his head and still performed admirably (as you just said).

Good size and speed too.  Wins faceoffs.

Hits.

They’re still projects and have lots of development left to even be long term nhl players. They’re certainly not blue chip prospects not even close.

Chytil while he was hot in the playoffs is wildly inconsistent and we’ve seen hot spurts like that before. He’s a project.

Lundkvist still needs a lot of development he’s got some decent tools but is still a project at this point and he’s fallen off the depth chart behind 3rd round pick Zac Jones.

this is not even close to a proper offer for Miller.

I never said it was a proper offer, I'm stating the difference between projects and prospects. For someone whose the messiah when it comes to determining good leadership through a TV I expected more attention to detail.

Well yes that was a hyperbole.

If you watched the games last year, I bet he was the one most responsible for turnovers on the PP trying to thread the needle through the seam to Petey.

Ppl say yes but he also put up a lot of points and that is true but what I'm getting at is that to take it to the next level, he needs to eliminate those types of plays.

To me he plays somewhat like Kucherov. Capable of greatness at a moment's notice but also makes no look passes and does have a tendency for give aways albeit not at a poster child level. I'd take Miller's game over a 3rd liner who makes the simple plays most of the time. With risk comes reward.

If we trade him, I hope it is for a guy exactly like...well, the guy we already have..

That’s sort of what I’m hoping for when we trade him too.  I’m hoping the return is a young player, prospect, or high draft pick.  Then that one asset can develop into a player as impactful as Miller, regardless of position.  We should focus on filling one hole with a high ceiling asset instead of filling several holes with 23-27 year old guys.  Do we really want Marino and Kapanen?

JR holds a bit of a hammer in that he can trade JT to anyone, anywhere.

Think about that Mils; d'jya wanna be stuck in Winnipeg next year?

(Relax kiddies, jez hav'n sum fun here, old fart, several rums..)

You do raise a good point about Miller having no trade protection.  He will get traded to whichever team offers the best return.

Sounds good, but what's the return? I'm hoping for Future Considerations, I reckon he'll be a late bloomer if he can finally settle somewhere.

It's amazing how long future considerations has carved a career out for. ROH or hall of fame is the real question

Miller IF traded ,  would bring more a the TDL,  unless the other team he trades to this season,

has guarantees on his next contract..

THAT limits drastically what teams are involved.

that’s the way I see it.

Most likely they'll have to draft that elite talent with the high draft pick return.

Don't want Marino & Kapanen in return from a Miller trade.

So would you be ok paying tanev 7.25mil to eat up 25 mins to be a defensive specialist? Coz that’s what OEL is to Vancouver a defensive specialist. Because Hughes is getting all the offensive opportunity. Tanev also out scored OEL 5v5. There’s nothing wrong with OEL contract if he’s playing on a team that plays him like a #1 with pp1 mins pk1 etc. But in Vancouver he’s deployed as the top shutdown defenseman with limited offensive opportunity. A top shutdown defenseman in the NHL usually don’t make 7.25mil. It doesn’t matter how you built around OEL. It still won’t change the fact that he’ll be deployed as a defensive shutdown defenseman with limited offensive opportunity. You can put whoever u want on the right side to play with OEL.. he ain’t gonna magically start producing more offensively 5v5 coz he’s playing the matchup shutdown role..

OEL have the skill and capability to be a 7.25 mil 8mil defenseman but unless the team is going to use him to his capability.. why are we paying him 7.25mil to play the role of a 4-5mil shutdown defenseman?

Hey man, we totally agree he's being under utilized here. He hasn't remotely been put in a position to succeed/get the most out of him That's a MAJOR problem. One I hope to see rectified sooner than later (I've been harping on about it for MONTHS).

But once again, that's a management problem, not an OEL (or his contract) problem. They need to build a better, more cohesive D core around Hughes and OEL. We don't need to ditch OEL. That's bass -ackwards. The guy is a stud.

Keep the stud, do a better job supporting him.

Miller is definitely getting traded, but to who is the question and what will the return be. The team will look a lot different next year, I think, but they'll be a bit younger and it'll be exciting hockey. Really looking forward to Kuzmenko.

Maybe Boudreau deserves a bunch of credit here as well, for how the players played after he was hired.
