Marner is their best player besides Matthews, and he's only 24 years old.

His contract is 11 per.  Yes, he’s their best player, but the cap they clear is a factor too.  What is 5 million in cap worth?  Plus, Marner has been awful in the playoffs.

Personally, I think we say no.

Could you imagine that mosquito in the West?

Just in case the Canucks didn't have size or grit they'd add another wimp.

Yip. Leafs can keep their perimeter, regular season heros. By the way, how's the JT contract looking Leafs? Zero goals in ten games.

Elliotte Friedman just said he thinks JT Miller is going to the Leaf on Sportsnet. I just threw up a bit in my mouth when I heard that. It is found on a video link titled ‘could maple leafs make a bigger move if Muzzin is on LTIR”

They don’t have any grade A prospects and their first rounders are late picks.

This leaves a grade A roster player for our Grade A player.

Mathews, Tavares, Marner will obviously be untouchables.

Nylander doesn’t meet that threshold and they won’t give up anyone good on their defence.

No way this happens.

And Marner is the man out.

Why do we say no?

They don't even have anyone good on their defence.  Brodie is too old to fit in our window and Muzzin is hurt.

Leafs will burn in the first round this year,  there goalie won’t go 7 games let alone the serious attention their shooters will take.

it’s going to take some seriously bad refereeing for them to see round 2.

Our chance to unload cap.

To VAN:

Marner

To TO:

Miller

Poolman

Dickinson

Follow this up with a Boeser trade for picks or prospects and we are good to go moving forward.

That’s true, but I get a sense this is the Miller deal coming.  I’ve got bad vibes.  And I’m drinking LOTS!  :frantic:

Leafs would never say it, but my guess is they would so love to dump that Marner contract. Is he great? Sure. But is he worth his contract? It would be a cancer on the Canucks compared to the other deals, except maybe OEL’s.

I think we would have to take Kerfoot to dump Dickinson on them.

Marner + Kerfoot for Miller + Dickinson

If you add Marner and subtract Miller, our top six would be so soft, it would make the Sedins look like goons.

Too much money coming our way.  Moving Miller, Poolman, and Dickinson basically washes out Marner's cap hit.

We likely are stuck with Dickinson and Poolman for 3 years at over $5m on the cap, so I'd rather use that towards Marner.
