Someone will pony up, this is just where the weak ones drop out.

No GM is going to give up 2 roster players, and a top prospect for a rental. GMs around the league are aware of the situation going on in Vancouver. They either lower the asking price or keep him and risk losing him to FA for nothing.

I think that’s just the starting point, but we’ll settle for a good prospect, useful NHLer and a late 1st. If it’s an A prospect, the player will be a cap dump, etc.

Now that JR has admitted this isn’t a quick fix, we don’t need to answer both RD and C needs in one or two trades.  Just need to optimize value, and hit one or the other with Horvat.

Two roster guys coming off of poor ELCs is more what our owner expects management to go for.  So guys like Lafrenièreand Kakko

Not sure if Vegas is in the mix for Horvat, or any other Canucks players, but Korczak looks like a good trade target.

also, wouldn’t mind Cal Foote from Tampa. Maybe now that his Dad is coaching here, we may have a better chance.

they’re both in their early to mid twenties, aren’t so highly touted that they’re ‘untouchable’, and could compliment Hughes or OEL

Should've selected Korczak in the draft...Don't know if Vegas has enough to offer us to make it worth trading in the division.

Canucks scouting the Leafs and the Isles.

I could see a package of Beauvillier, Wahlstrom, and Raty.

Bolduc would be another player to keep an eye on.

Really don’t wanna see a trade with the Isles. They’ve got nothing that helps us.

How about this out of left field?  With Adam Foote working in Vancouver having his kid around who happens to be an RHD in Tampa, this could be the trade that happens.

Roster player: Anthony Cirelli
Underperforming Prospect under 25: Cal Foote
Pick: 1st or 2nd

100% the jimmy ruthernucks may something like this over a better deal to appease the masses get a young C/LW under long term contract to replace Horvat and that RHD everyone screams about in Cal Foote which gives his daddy control over his development.

It gets a deal done.  Checks all the boxes that Rutherford stated he was going to achieve and gets that issue out of the news.

Never thought of getting Cal as part of a bigger deal, but you may be onto something here.

As stated.  They don't have to "pony up"

Literally no team is going to lose a credible and quality roster player right now for Horvat.  11 teams in the east in or at least within 11 points of the playoff wild card spot.  11 teams in the west in or at least within 11 points of the playoff wild card spot.

Of those 22 ish teams only 5 total have the available cap space to take Horvat without shipping out a contract.

Every single team in the league knows EXACTLY what the Canucks want or need.  Rutherford outright said he'd be happy bargain shopping for young underperforming roster players under contract.  Think Kiril Marchenko type from Columbus or Dellandrea/Guryanov in Dallas.  THAT is going to be one of the highlights of a trade involving horvat.  Not a Schneider, Laff, Necas.  Literally NO team in the league is going to fork over a fortune of a return for a player that this management group refuses to allow to speak about extensions with.  Knowing that the teams management said it will money puck things with cast offs.  Knowing that this orgs biggests needs are an RHC/LW and RHD and literally ANY kind of player under the age of 25.

Especially when all they have to do is make a pitch July 1st for free

The idea of getting a Necas type player back is a joke.  Jarvis?  same thing.  It's literally never going to happen.  Rutherford will get a deal done for the sake of getting a deal done make no mistake and it will check his boxes and nothing more.

It's an absolutely trash deal but one that will be suggested is a win for us because it checks Rutherfords boxes.

100% is a type of deal that would be done

6 mil a yr for Horvat?  U serious?

Why so serious? Meaning & Origin | Slang by Dictionary.com

If Bo wants to be on a great team, then he might consider it. Also, it's apparently over the initial offer from our mgmt group when they used Nuge's contract as a comp. Bo is not better than Nuge...and a chance to play on a powerhouse in COL could be enticing, even if he's leaving money on the table.

A Demko trade being a possibility certainly makes you question what timeline they're looking at.

He's better than he's been this season, I think most folks know that. He's got three seasons left on his deal and he'll be 31 when it's up? Maybe they don't think they'll be competitive the way they'd like in three years and that they won't be able to retain him? Maybe he's requested a trade?

I think it'll be a longer process than people are expecting, a Demko trade would make sense for a team like Buffalo who could use some stability between the pipes even if that's working in tandem with Luukkonen. A team like Carolina could make sense too, they don't have a tender signed beyond this season. Andersen will be 34 in October while Raanta will be 34 in May. Gotta think Thatcher would thrive in Carolina's system. Demko's also cost controlled at 5M which could appeal to a team with players due for raises in Carolina.

Don't worry. JR is gonna sign Tristan Jarry to the Bobro contract this summer.

At least Jarry a local Surrey boy.

:bigblush:
