[Waivers] Evander Kane

Kevin Kurz wrote this summer:  "Several key players informed team brass that if Kane was going to be a part of the Sharks going forward, they didn’t want to be. That’s how bad it got, and how complicated this situation has become."

Wilson did confirm that players had complained about Kane.  Kane was cleared from the allegations that emerged this summer but the comments by these NHL agents about his effect in the room are still relevant.

“He plays with a chip on his shoulder, but that carries into the dressing room and the outside world,” one agent, who, speaking on the condition his name not be used, told THN.com in reference to Kane. “He never does any favors to himself when he lets his ego rule the day, and he does that most days.”

“One of my clients on the Sharks just hates him, hates the negative energy he brings into the room,” another agent, also claiming anonymity, told THN.com. (...) Some guys think that they’re bigger than the team, and I guess that helps drive (Kane) on a personal basis, but in the team construct, it doesn’t play well at all.”

I’ve never seen agent lie before.  Never. Not once.
Until I see actual players come out, it’s all bs and hearsay

The thing is we all read “journalists” reports that state “several players” are not happy or have said something.

but if “several” players can’t have the balls to speak out and be quoted,  where is this source?  Where is the direct quote?

it happens in this city ,  most recently journalists having Horvat and Miller in a power struggle..

When as if turns out,  nobody was having fun at the rink any more in a “systems is everything “ approach to the game by Coaching staff.

Words ,  “quoted”.    Speaks volumes, and better than a finger flipping finger too.

Show the quotes / roll the tape from unhappy players ,  that’s what’s needed .

Players,  publicly holding a player accountable would help their situation more than hurt it.

This shows a weak room and a knee jerk reacting GM in San Jose to me.

starting with both Wilson and then their 11m dollar man , the Captain Morgan of Hockey Karlsson.

The GM confirming it isn't enough for you?

He knew jerked on the fake news of Kane gambling against his own team..

Wilson looks like an idiot after the NHL cleared Kane of betting against his own team.

Wilson created the distrust issue..  And is doing everything he can to get rid of the player, and the problem he created as GM.

Wilson is not with the team - he's on medical leave.

Figured.
It’s so sad to see people just make assumptions then rip the guy apart with zero evidence.
Some bozo even said he needs to be in jail.
It’s a pretty gross trait for a person to have.

It’s like that one kid at school who gets crapped on because a couple of guys don’t like them and the whole school just rides along the hate train because it’s the easiest thing to do.

This all started back in Aug-Sept..

Just because he is not in office, someone is pulling strings..  if it isn’t Wilson, who is it?

San Jose Sharks general manager Doug Wilson will take a temporary medical leave from his day-to-day activities, the organization announced on Friday. Assistant GM Joe Will will takeover on an interim basis.Nov 26, 2021

What was posted is probably about as much as you're going to get while he's still a part of the organization though. As a player why would you come out and publicly blast a guy who's in the same locker room with you every day? Why would you air the dirty laundry and force a move that way? Not only does that spark conflict on an in person level around the group, it puts the team in a tough spot if it puts pressure on them to move Kane out. It potentially puts them at a disadvantage as far as negotiations go. Guys simply aren't going to put their neck out like that, particularly if there's a chance they might be on the same roster for years to come.

Maybe you'd see that in the NBA, but in the NHL it just doesn't happen. There are several reasons that sort of information usually comes out anonymously or via third party.

Ok ill google for you jus this once. 2 teams where he disrespected team rules to the point his teammates wanted him gone. What are you expecting like to see the whole sharks team get infront of a microphone and declare they dislike the guy......... And the earth is flat too right because you have never personally seen it from outer space.

Another day, more sordid Evander Kane news.

Kevin Kurz of The Athletic has reported that “several” of Kane’s teammates don’t want the embattled winger to come back to the San Jose Sharks next season.

These teammates, according to The Athletic, were upset with Kane’s “disrespect for team rules,” like being late for practices and games.

This lines up with a June report from the Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli.

“Sources indicate significant friction built up between Kane and a number of his teammates last season,” Frank Seravalli of the Daily Faceoff wrote, “frustration that was expressed clearly to management in exit interviews.”

And furthermore......

Following the incident, teammate Dustin Byfuglien responded to the disrespect by tossing Kane’s tracksuit into the showers. It’s understandable why Kane would be ticked off by this, but Byfuglien, nonetheless, made his message very clear.

Come game time, Kane was nowhere to be found, and wasn’t responding to any phone calls just an hour before the match was scheduled to begin. When coaches were finally able to reach him, he stated that he would not be playing that night against the Canucks.

The Jets have not given a direct reason as to why Kane failed to show up for that nights game, but the Winnipeg Free Press reported that he was scratched from that nights lineup due to a dress code violation.

Kane is a key player for Winnipeg with 10 goals and 12 assists so far this season. Although his absence may have contributed to the 5-2 loss that night against the Canucks, his lack of accountability and straight forward display of disrespect that day would not be tolerated by the coaches or the team itself.

Show me the players coming to Kanes defence. The players squashed the bs Miller Horvat rumors and that was pure speculation caused by that idiot Hershe. Not Multipule sources and documented events.

who ever threw Kanes clothes into the shower took it too far.

Management should have dealt with the issue themselves.

who ever threw Kanes clothes into the shower should have been reprimanded as well.

That is a weak room not caused by Kane, but a weak, out of control room inflicting itself on him.

Sitting one of your best points getters over a Dress code violation is shooting your self in the foot , and screaming Kane did it.

The best way to handle  A dress code violation , is inviting the the player to a dinner management meeting where the incident is discussed,.  And HE pays for dinner.

That scenario was handled terribly wrong.

… and management, and immaturity within the room quantified it.

my opinion,  I’m sticking to it.

If that was the incident ( a minor dress code) that moved a powerful point per game player,.  It says more negatively of that org. than the player.

Lots of elite athletes play with swagger and ego ,. It’s part of how they operate as athletes..  it’s how you play with them that counts,.  You’ve got to have and make fun with it all,  humour, good humour “grounds” them and it creates positive effects.

I'm outta here not worth wasting my braincells on discussing Kane. Two teams don't just toss out their top scorer like trash for no reason.

no, it’s just getting to the fun part where Kane signs in Vancouver for 1m for the season, then resigns with us..

while he deposits 24 million in his account from the Sharks ;)

Both Buff and Little were focal about Kane. Cannot remember if a Sabres player did or not. In SJ I heard Hertl. I just don’t think 3 successive organizations cook up stories to skewer a hockey player. What’s worse is that Kane is a good hockey player and yet all 3 of these orgs wanted him gone. Not a case of being misunderstood or too flamboyant.

As fans we aren’t in on the scuttle butt circulating around the league. Bottom line is that 31 orgs have had months to craft a deal if they see value here. Let’s face it Kane could be had for a song and yet no takers. Obviously the demand isn’t there for him or a deal would be there in fear of losing out to another interested party. Again, the Canucks have two veteran org people in Rutherford and BB. Anyone more connected than these two? If they are passing on Kane there is highly likely good reasons.

It’s all going through it’s due process at this point..

but trading for him may not be an issue anymore,  certainly the NHL has terminated the contract?   Or are they not announcing that yet ?

all to unfold.
