It's the rule about having to play in x number of games (80?) in three seasons iirc, otherwise you become UFA.

He’s much more mobile and only 25. This will be his second team so it should be his best opportunity to make something of himself, as soon as you start going on your third, fourth team, you are a journeyman Dman Well... I'll be pleasantly surprised if he plays better than Hunt and Juulsen to warrant a 3rd round pick!!
drdeath
Ottawa convoy and doing their own research jokes aside, can we take a moment to commend Allvin for selling to a team that should be selling? Love to see it
Provost
Some good takes about how we did well on this trade. Not sure why we undid half of the good work by trading for Dermott afterwards... but I guess it still nets out as a positive.https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/news/canucks-deal-defenceman-travis-hamonic-to-senators-203801879.html

Love to see it Yea that part was pretty impressive. Like selling for a pick and no cap retention? Sens should have had no motivation to be buyers…

We saved cap and got younger and more mobile. Hamonic was plenty mobile. Younger is not always better. 1

ilduce39
Canucks needed a defensive-minded LD in the stable, especially to pair with Myers. This lets them go back to Poolman / OEL when Poolman is healthy as well. Could be a little bit more balanced with offensive / defensive leaning guys playing together. Just an option anyways.

Good point, if Poolman can let OEL unleash some more offence it will make a huge difference. Problem is though that OEL and Myers are really the only shutdown options we have. Don't think Poolman is the answer there.

sxqhfeh
Update: The third-round pick Vancouver gave up in this deal is not the one they acquired back from the Senators in the Hamonic trade. Rather, it is the pick originally belonging to Winnipeg that the Canucks acquired in the Nate Schmidt trade

Bachelor calls it the best Canucks trade in years. I don’t think they are done yet. https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/news/canucks-deal-defenceman-travis-hamonic-to-senators-203801879.html Edited March 20, 2022 by steviewonder20
