Maybe we get it back in another dump trade? The wheels are turning.

Nave
I'm kind of disappointed it's our own 3rd, and not theirs', but it's amazing we didn't retain cap.
Popular Post Mackcanuck
Hamonic barely played for us We get our 3rd back, It is kind of a do-over $3M is substantial savings 1 5

Doesn’t seem worth the assets to get at the cap hit he makes. Is he though? Tanev was a "poor man's Tanev" at the same age too. 2 minutes ago, FaninMex said: What I mean is, posters a week ago were crying that we have no D depth. Now, we are trading a Dman that has been playing well for a pick and everyone cheers. It is also a 3rd so more likely than not will end up a nothing player. We have plenty of depth. What we lack is top 4 caliber D and any succession plan for all these guys expiring over the next two years (Hamonic next year, Myers and Schenn the year after). The D needs a MASSIVE overhaul with youth and more speed. To overhaul, you need to move some of those old, ill fitting pieces out. 2 1
Nucker 67
I think they may have been waiting on Hamonic to TOR, but when TOR went with Gio, that left the OTT deal open. I'm happy, cleared some cap to do other things, and the Canucks have another pick, which is weird. Benning just gave them away.
KyGuy123
You have to figure this move is because it’s hard to attract free agents to Ottawa with where the team is at right now. For $3 million and one year they will be able to have the player fill the role for a year and probably be able to trade him next deadline for the same return. DeNiro
I like this deal because: -we clear out much needed cap space -get rid of a player who’s heart didn’t seem to be in it here -it really doesn’t have much impact on our playoff push since Poolman and Burroughs can replace him. 1
EddieVedder
Hamonic wasnt the same player this year as when he first got here. Wouldve liked to have kept him but maybe he didnt want to be here.
Provost
Hopefully the first of a few moves to clear cap space and ensure we don’t pay the Halak bonus. This could also be a pre-move for a larger deal like bringing in Schneider in that roster spot. I hope it isn’t just clearing the way for the amazing Poolman’s return. Good to not retain salary, we should also keep all our own picks going forward to keep offer sheets a possibility. Trading other team’s picks we acquired is smarter Edited March 20, 2022 by Provost

ForestFalcon
And just think, with how this season started, it was looking like the Canucks were going to have to pay teams if they wanted to trade Hamonic.

KyGuy123
If we can somehow unload Pearson and Myers without taking cap back that is $12 million in cap space for 3 replaceable players.
