Why is nobody talking about Vegas medical staff?

This is the second player from that team to realize that they need surgery a few weeks before the start of the season. Weird.

In this case, Considering how Robin likes to act up... it wouldn't surprise me if he only just now brought this up to the team as a eff you sort of thing. Wouldn't doubt it honestly

They only really have one NHL ready goalie signed, and that's Lehner.

On the other hand, they now have increased cap space due to more LTIR.

So, I started a new thread about a week ago under Canucks talk where I speculated that Vegas would under perform this season, partially due to lack of depth in goal.

Does weber not cap them out pretty much in terms of ltir?

You think they want to lose their starting goalie?

Vancouver can go as high as 86M with Ferland on LTIR but Ferland can't play -  the rest of the roster is still at most 82.5M ie 86M less Ferland's 3.5M.  It's the same for Vegas. The 12.8M are on both sides of the equation.  Lehner and Weber count against the cap but they can also exceed the cap by their cap hit - the regular roster for the season will still have to be under 82.5M.

Lol, in this case?  I wouldn't be surprised.  Lehner was arguably worse or on par with Dan Vladar in terms of performance last year.  Whoever they put in net is not gonna be a huge downgrade.  Whereas now with around $7M to work with, you can bet they're fine with this situation.  For example, they could theoretically go out and trade for a $4M goaltender (Bernier in NJ? Sorokin from NYI?) and trade for JT Miller @ 50% retained and still be cap compliant while hoping Lehner does come back should they make the playoffs.

We ALL get it man, you've drilled your point across multiple forums, multiple threads, and multiple posts.  You firmly believe LTIR is the worst thing since the invention of plastic.  What you don't seem to understand is there are circumstances where LTIR could benefit a team given the right circumstances.

Could Vegas add Miller right now if Lehner doesn't go on LTIR?  NOPE.

Could Vegas add Miller right now if they add a goaltender that costs less than Lehner (with Lehner on LTIR)?  YUP.

JT Miller + Sorokin >>>>> Lehner

LTIR is not always bad.

No chance they get someone like Sorokin.

Bernier's career is possibly over.

There's really no chance that NYI trades Sorokin.

LTIR helps in a Kucherov situation or to reach the floor but not otherwise.

How has LTIR helped Vancouver - they've been losing so much cap space because of Ferland. They would be so much better off if they could trade his contract.

Vegas gets the 5M from Lehner but with that they need to find a replacement goalie.  Maybe it's someone cheaper and gives them some more room to add elsewhere.

Sorokin was just an example.

Heck, they could go acquire Vladar and be pretty much on par in terms of goaltending.

Bottomline is LTIR isn't ALWAYS bad.  This is a specific situation where LTIR could very well benefit Vegas depending on what they do with their LTIR room.

What's hilarious is Martinez praised the Vegas medical staff too.

It's a strange example. Sorokin is a starter (and a good one), while Vladar is a backup.

They need someone who is capable of eating up a good number of games. If they're looking to contend, there aren't many options that will be cheap enough to upgrade elsewhere.

Lehner going down for the season doesn't help Vegas.
