AngryElf
Mentor for Dermott and Rathbone while also fulfilling the veteran games requirement for preseason. Otherwise, kinda meh. Edited September 9, 2022 by AngryElf 2

Ilya Mikheyev
Ex BCHLer! Don't really see how he would fit in Vancouver OR Abbotsford, but PTO-based camp competition never hurts.
kloubek
Not really sure about this. Our LD has OEL and Hughes as the mainstays, and Rathbone or Dermott fighting for the 3rd LD spot. It seems almost as if he's being brought in for competition purposes, but no real intention to sign him unless it's at league minimum as depth. I would have thought that we'd more likely go after a RD, but with Pooilman apparently ready to play it isn't like we're likely to keep him out of the lineup. That leaves our right side with Schenn, Poolman, Myers, and then Dermott (who can play both sides) as backup.
Odd.
He was pretty solid defensively for most of his time in Detroit. I thought he’d be getting a contract by now. Not sure where he fits into this line up however. Edited September 9, 2022 by Odd.
Master Mind
Can't hurt to have more D depth in training camp. 2
SilentSam
Camp pressure, and an opportunity for Dekeyser … a vet ready if a move is made with Myers . you just never know how these unfold. The cliche is …. preparation is the key to success. good luck Danny. Edited September 9, 2022 by SilentSam 1

Ghostsof1915
Has he a history of injuries or something? Looks like a lot incomplete seasons.
Popular Post SID.IS.SID.ME.IS.ME
Dekeyser, if healthy, would be a good depth signing at league minimum. Not sure he’s ever going to be really healthy, however. Here’s a quote from a recent article: The Red Wings came into the season hoping DeKeyser would be one of their top four defensemen. They were expecting the leg strength lost through a back injury and surgery to return. But he wasn’t the same defenseman he was before the injury. “Danny before the back surgery had a certain strength and skating power that he might never have at the same level again,” Blashill said. “That’s just the reality of having a major injury. Is he to that same strength, power in his skating, same fluidity? Probably not. So he doesn’t have quite the same level of strength. “I don’t know if he’ll have it again or not. Is he striving to continue … yeah, he works hard in the weight room, works hard off the ice, works hard with our sports science staff to try to get him to be the best he can. At the same time, as you get older sometimes that stuff is harder, too.” Nothing wrong with getting a look at him on a tryout. If, by some miracle (or just training, treatment, and hard work, and there’s no questioning his work ethic), the leg strength is back and he’s regained his mobility, then he’d be a very good addition. If he’s still hobbled and unable to skate anywhere near his pre-injury abilities, then I’m not sure he helps us. He’s still a cagey veteran who can use his smarts to hide some of his mobility issues, but his skating was what made him truly effective, and without that skill, he’s going to struggle with the speed of the game, and will get exposed at times. Mustard Tiger
Let's bring as many NHL capable PTO guys in. I'm not allowing the roster to be filled with petan and hunts again. No more pure AHL talent. At least alot of PTO guys are on their final NHL legs before career is over. Still better than career ahlers 1

Personally I see bringing DeKeyser in on PTO as a definite sign of progress on behalf of Canucks management, Benning probably would have signed him to a 3 year 4 million per contract and hoped he would be old Danny... 4
