Popular Post J.I.A.H.N Posted December 24, 2022 Popular Post Share Posted December 24, 2022 As we approach the big day tomorrow (No not the TDL or Draft Day, or the Stanley Cup Final). I am reminded of how grateful I am for having a place to go and talk hockey and other issues that come to mind. I am reminded of how fortunate I am. Our gathering will be 7 adults and 4 dogs, which should be interesting to say the least. I will talk to my son and family who will be in Prince Rupert, and we will laugh and over eat, and moan afterwards. After everyone goes home, my wife and I will softly complain of how much work it is hosting. But in the end, we will laugh, and tell stories of the day, before getting into our pajama pants and waddling to the couch in exhaustion. We will be grateful that we have so much food, that we do not have to cook for several days (maybe a week!) Just as good as this has all been, I will also be reminded of all the friends and family that lost this year, and how lucky I was to have them in my life. I will also take a moment for those people suffering from their losses or circumstances. I will think of the homeless, and of the poor. I will think of those with mental disorders, and those sick. But, this year, my greatest prayer will be for those families affected by the Russia/Ukraine war, that have lost family, limbs, and houses. For those that are huddled in fox holes, and for those that do not even have that. I will pray for both Ukrainian and Russian soldiers, that this merciless war ends, and those remaining can go back and be with their family or friends. I will pray for the little children, and pray for their mommies and daddies to return. I will pray for a little quiet to enter their lives, if not at least for a minute, for a second of calm, for a second of air. I wish you a Merry Christmas from my heart, and suggest you are loved here, and that we all take a moment to appreciate all we have. Merry Christmas to all! However the great part is I get to see both my nieces and their families. So there will be 4 Grandkids running around. My brother was supposed to start Immunotherapy yesterday. I hope he's not too wiped and I get to see him and his family too. So instead of snow, I might need to get a jetski to visit them with all the rain. Thank you @J.I.A.H.N for making this thread and I really hope you enjoy your time with your 7 friends and family and 4 pooches. It sounds like you have been through a lot in the past year (as we all have at one point or the other the last 3 years) it’s so important for us to keep making good memories. As we never know what may happen next year, enjoy the here and now. Your mentioning of the war in Ukraine and I keep thinking about those families that have to deal with such hardship this winter and the last year. This year my family decided to do Ukraine colors only for our Christmas lights. In great respect and in hope that this ends in 2023 and we aren’t still worrying about it next winter. I wish everyone a safe and Merry Christmas. Be safe for those traveling. Looking forward to a new year and hopefully new hope for the Canucks in 2023.
