What if instead of OEL and Myers, we had K'Andre Miller and Ryan Pulock?

 

Is it that the Canucks core is not good?  Or is it the Canucks defence core that is not good?

 

If we managed to move out Brock, Myers, and maybe Garland, but found significant upgrades on defence, where would we be as a team?

Excellent point. Because it seems that our forwards apart from Petey, Kuz and Mik, and some role players, the rest don't put much effort into backchecking, and helping out the defence and the goalie. We also don't have a 3rd line quality centre that can take faceoffs, and forecheck. Points is a bonus. But a checking centre we desperately need.

At some point we need to be able to develop defenseman. Acquiring established defenseman just doesn’t happen anymore. 
 

Our best bet is to acquire defensive prospects using our pieces trade bait but then actually developing them to become serviceable defenseman.

 

The other most obvious way would be to actually draft them. And then develop them. Unfortunately, we can’t seem to do either. A lot of defenseman we draft are in the later rounds with low potential. 
 

When Jeff Woo is your last highest picked defenseman in your system, that is concerning.

I think he should be sitting anyway, he has basically given up on this team and we don't want him to get injured before the trade deadline anyway.

Him saying he doesn't want to talk about his contract during the season is his excuse and that he is done, so why not just sit him? 

Seems like a no brainer to me.
