Soucy Hughes

Hronek  Myers

Myers  Hiho

I don't want Myers in the lineup at all. But you have him twice so I guess that evens it out.

Didn't we already try Hughes on the right side and it was less than amazing?

I'm happy with the signings, generally speaking. I too am wondering about why they are all left handed. Cole CAN play right side, but I can't see him as the best compliment with Hughes?

Hughes - Soucy

Wolanin -Myers

Brisebois - Juulsen

I didn't realize Soucy is apparently decent on the right side. So odd that top pairing would both be on their off side, but I think this is basically the lineup. Though I'd slot Hirose as our 6th over Bris.

?

I think Soucy on the left with Hronek forms our shutdown pair and Cole can play better on the right, he slots in with Hughes.

Wolanin, Hirose and Rathbone fight for the bottom pairing LD spot with Myers.

Not bad but we've got to remember, Soucy and Cole are far from elite guys. Soucy was a bottom pairing guy in Seattle, Cole is like premier Schenn. They're budget guys, not top players, but I think under Tocchet and paired with a solid partner and we'll have a successful defence.

The ace in the hole is having Myers at 5D who can jump up in case of injuries.

I wonder if Bear could still be a possibility. Bring him back around 1M+ then stow him on LTIR till he's ready.

We have more size + grit now with Soucy/Cole, Bear is pretty good at skating & moving the puck to add more of that element depending our opponent.

Hughes - Bear/Soucy

Cole - Hronek

Soucy/Bear - Myers

Which is why I said fighting was a bonus.  And he handled himself just fine physically, with his weight.  Maybe the fact that he fought actually worked against him in that he was never appreciated for his great defensive play. He was trusted as Hughes partner at the end of Bruce's term.  Great hockey sense, reliable and solid.

As I'm writing we sign Soucy for a similar deal that Burroughs got.  Near the same age.  But IMO Burroughs is a better player. And already on the team and beginning to be familiar with Tocchet's system.

I thought he struggled in the fights. He tried and tried but it wasn’t enough.

Soucy seems to be very good defensively.
So Tocchet can use him if we start to leak.

The bald black guy with the glasses on Sportsnet pooped all over us for our bottom 6 saying not good enough.

Calling out the following names, Joshua, Garland, Aman and PDG.

That kind of irked me

Yeah we still have a 3rd line centre issue but Joshua could slide up. The guy got 11 goals last season and seems to be on the upswing.

Bleuger could go on our 4th line. We also have Raty developing and might impress as well.

Ya we didn’t score with ROR but our bottom 6 is not that bad!

Our defence got addressed and that was priority.
