Can someone explain just what the heck all that techno babble is actually saying?

And why it is a bad thing, whatever it is?

The allegations are that he's asking to see players phones then transferring their photos to his computer. Apparently under the guise of wanting to know them better but also sounds like it could be for blackmail down the road.

Personally I would be very surprised if this is true, especially since Babcock knows he's skating on thin ice.

Report: NHLPA investigating Mike Babcock for alleged phone incident with Boone Jenner

Mike Babcock is already in some hot water before coaching a game for the Blue Jackets.

The NHLPA is reportedly investigating allegations levied against Columbus Blue Jackets head coach Mike Babcock that claim he violated a player's privacy, as first reported by The Athletic’s Aaron Portzline.

Paul Bissonnette of Barstool’s Spittin’ Chiclets podcast stated that Blue Jackets captain Boone Jenner was summoned by Babcock for a meeting. Babcock allegedly asked to see the photos on Jenner’s phone, then used AirPlay to display Jenner’s photos on his office television.

After Portzline reported the Blue Jackets were aware of the matter, Bissonnette doubled down and stated the allegations levied against Babcock are “100 percent true.”

Babcock and Jenner have not yet responded to Portzline's requests seeking comment.

If the allegations are proven true, it would prove a repeated pattern of abusive behaviour from Babcock. During his tenure with the Toronto Maple Leafs, it was revealed that Babcock made Mitch Marner rank his teammates’ work ethic. Babcock then read the list aloud to the rest of the team against Marner’s will.

Johan Franzen, who starred for the Detroit Red Wings under Babcock’s watch, called him the worst person he’s ever met, accusing Babcock of verbally abusing him.

Babcock was hired by the Blue Jackets on July 1, his first NHL head coaching position since being fired by the Maple Leafs in November 2019. The 60-year-old was once considered one of hockey’s master tacticians, leading the Anaheim Ducks to a Stanley Cup Final appearance in 2003, while winning the Cup with the Red Wings in 2008. Babcock’s 700 wins rank 12th all-time, fifth among active coaches.

On the international stage, he has coached Canada to two Olympic gold medals, World Juniors gold, World Championship gold and a World Cup of Hockey title.

Perhaps because I want to give him the benefit of the doubt that he isn’t so stupid he would deliberately do something terrible so early into his tenure, knowing he’s on thin ice.

Johnny: "Uh, I got something to tell you"

Babcock watching the NY Jets game last night be like: "Hey... I just came up with a great idea on how to make money doing nothing..."
