[Offical] Kesler traded to Anaheim

Awww, poor Kessy can't hand the heat from the fans and media.

The Sedins have been ripped by the media and fans since day one and never once had the idea of "walking out" on their team.

Considering you are a self-admitted pathetic Kesler hater, your opinion on him doesn't matter.

I wish Gillis was still running this operation.

He'd hold on to Kesler for a year, then trade Horvat for below market value, and then trade Kesler for a weak return anyway leaving Brendan Gaunce to jump in as 2nd line center in his rookie season.

Kesler shows up every game. Jumbo 'no show' Joe come playoffs. Not eve close.

Joe Thornton has 100 points in 132 playoff games.

If that's 'No Show' then what is Kesler's 38 in 57?

Kesler had a good playoffs in 2011, but coincidentally failed to show up when it actually mattered.

He is still a premier asset don't get me wrong, but no where near the level of Spezza or Thornton.

Anyone who isn't wearing homer glasses will back me up on this.

I'm also a big fan of how you completely ignored the fact that Thornton faces a higher quality of competition and receives less favourable zone starts than Kesler because it doesn't jive with your opinion.

Kesler's value is more than just in points production. Its his versatility that makes him valuable. Thornton doesn't do all the things that Kes does. Kesler can play a shut down roll, play the PK , 1st unit power play, he can play wing or centre and be used on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd line. If Thornton isn't producing points his value is takes a huge hit...and Thornton is 35 to boot

If anything I'd say it would be the other way around in favour of Ryan Kesler. When the Canucks play the good teams in the league Ryan Kesler consistently matches up against the Toews', Crosby's, Thornton's, Kopitar's, Getzlaf's and so on, and so on. Constantly getting defensive zone starts against the top lines of the opposing teams. I don't think Joe Thornton see's the same sort of action Kesler does in that regard.

I also don't think it's fair for you to say he didn't show up in the SCF.. He was literally playing on one hip.

All that being said, anyone saying that Kesler will put up more offensive production than either Spezza or Thornton are delusional. They are all different players.

This.... Who cares if Kesler was or was not a warrior for us? Who cares if he likes the city of Vancouver or not? Who cares what division he gets traded into? What matters is this. We didn't win the Stanley Cup with Kesler. As there appears to be demand for his services, why not trade him to whom ever is willing to give up the most for him and be done with it?

There were two teams in the West that could really have used Kesler in the playoffs. When you add Pittsburgh to the mix it really, really makes you wonder why a trade wasn't done at the trade deadline, when Kesler's trade value should have been at its highest.

I am bigger fan of the Canucks then I am of Kesler, so let's get something done soon.

BTW... Dallas may use its compliance buyout on Romer? I'm shocked! He was an absolute beast for the Nucks against Boston in 2011.

Even if I'm no Gillis hater that seems like a pretty realistic way of how it could end...

His value used to be more then just in points, he's not that player anymore. He's living off a reputation that he earned in the past, he's been a - player for quite some time now.

kesler's value is that he's an acquirable 3rd forward on a reasonable cap hit with term. he can be a complementary piece on a contender or an essential piece on an average team. he's still relatively young, and while he has a lengthy injury history, he stayed healthy last year.

most importantly though, he can be added without a major roster overall. the contracts and necessity to play on the first line for guys like thornton and spezza drastically limits the teams that will be interested, whereas kesler can be slotted in as any top 9 center or right winger.

ok now I'm pissed ... I won't support him if he leaves.

When Lui asked for a trade it was because they weren't playing him and giving him chances. Kes was playing almost 25 minutes a game with the most talented pair of players he'll EVER play with (sedins)

He shouldn't leave just because he wants to.

One of my friends ran into him and sestito clubbing two weeks ago and he said don't believe the rumors and he loves vancouver... guess he had a few too many beverages and was just saying it in the moment though.

Hope he stays. If he doesn't do you guys think any of the below are possible trades ?

Kesler for Ryan Johansen

Kesler and 6th overall and another asset for Malkin

Kesler and 6th overall and another asset for Perry

Kesler + 36th overall for Florida or buffalo first rounder ?

I want Malkin please and thank you.

or Kesler for Lucic the biggest dirt bag of all time who I'll love if he's a canuck.

Columbus will never in a million years make that trade.

Pittsburgh will never in a million years make that trade.

Anaheim will never in a million years make that trade.

Lucic will never come to Vancouver in a million years. He hates the city now.
