no i would plan to move a contract over the offseason

or buy one out

not sure why you want a simplistic approach to cap management

do you understand what the laffs are doing to manage their cap issues

they are actually quite brilliant

do you know they are spending close to 120 million this season on salaries - legally

quite amazing

not that i agree with their approach

but it is pretty damn sophisticated and big league

So brilliant they have next to no draft picks, and still only one defenseman capable of playing defense at the NHL level.  We have a better chance of winning the cup than they do this year, and for the foreseeable future.

nucks are damn rich too

don't fool yourself

this franchise value has almost tripled under aquaman

don't forget about those expansion fees

15 million from vegas

20 million from seattle

Yea but the fees aren't an advantage those are distributed evenly.

Even moving one contract and buying one out let's us just barely break even cap wise assuming re retain our UFAs (because if we don't our team becomes considerably weaker). You're going to have to do better than that.

Regarding the Leafs, that's exactly what I'm saying. I don't want to be in a position where Pettersson and Hughes' next contracts hamstring us like the Leafs have been this year. In order to do that we need to save as much as possible, like say 1.5 million.

nice mountain building

we were dealing with mole hills at first

1.5 million bonus bumps

and now you are freaking about about the laffs over paying their stars

you easily loose perspective

but i knew you would

i'm done with this discussion

you are getting a bit too wound up

I’m thinking they were wound up a long time ago, coastal. Good work on reasoning using logic though.

you devise a scheme

to pay 50% more then a salary cap allows

then we will talk

this issue is not directly related to their lack of depth or prospects

You misunderstood everything I was saying about the Leafs.

Like it a little more after looking at our division.  We basically only have Vegas as the only rival with a legit NHL lineup.  Barring someone good from the central causing trouble in the first round as a wild card, we have a clear and honestly fairly easy path to the conference finals after this trade.

Is that why they are free falling out of contention in their division and close to being a Wild Card team?
