Why are we not in the market for a goalie? Running it back with Delia/Martin backing up seems like asking for the same result. Silovs needs games in Abby.
-
We need another big trade.
Get a better center option or another RHD please.
-
@smithers joe a healthy Mikheyev could fill that role
-
-
Is anybody here involved with the trades? I'm wait-listed for a program at BCIT but can get into the same program at VIU much sooner and I was wondering if anybody knew much about the two schools.
-
@naslund.is.king Not yet. That’s one of the questions I had re: VIU vs BCIT

Refrigeration mechanic.
BCIT does just one intake per year in September so I'd be looking at next year, whereas VIU I could start in January or possibly even this September. Long term I'll be living on the island which has me thinking VIU would be better for finding an apprenticeship but I want to get some info before making any decisions.

Maxime Comtois? Surprised ANH didnt qualify him. Supposedly he had no involvement in the 2018 Canada WJC incident. Could Tocchett get the most out of him?

Canucks select the defenceman with the highest upside in this draft, Tom Willander, a mean piece of business, who is right handed. They fill a very big positional need
-
@Devron at least that's what I'm telling myself right now If we got the McAvoy of this draft then hot damn that's a win.

@nergish this feels a bit like the 2016 draft with Sergavhev/Juolevi/Chychrun/McAvoy. No real clear consensus on the pick.
I feel a little more at ease not being the team that picked a D man first this time around.

Vegas has no future, they'll win the cup tonight and then won't be heard from for 7 or 8 years, old team, capped out, as a Canucks fan Im excited about the next 7 years, we have an elite young core, just need to surround it, need to shed some contracts this summer as well
-
@shiznak I'm a couple months shy of 30 and I'd probably take a cup next year followed by decades of mediocrity/ineptitude the rest of my life.

How does a player with nearly 150pts is only a +17

I came here for @King Heffy's input and I wasn't disappointed.

They mentioned Shaky Walton in Cheech's stories tonight.
You are missed, our friend.

Can’t sleep. Too stressed out. Not even melatonin helped.
I have been without a working oven for a month now and I have a freezer full of food I cannot cook as a result.
My landlord said he sent a repairman twice to take a look at the oven, but I was home all day those days and nobody knocked on my door.
My stove seems to still work. The issue with the oven is it won’t heat up.
I contacted a repairman myself and was told the part needed to fix it was no longer available, as it is an old model. It’s almost 20 years old.
However, my landlord didn’t believe me and again said he’d send a repairman to fix it.Another no show.
By the way, he wants to bill me for all these times that he allegedly sent a repairman to look at my oven.
Now, I am completely broke and cannot afford to buy more groceries I can cook on my stove or even in my microwave.
I honestly don’t know what to do. I’m freaking out and losing my mind.
-
@Citizen Erased I absolutely did. He got us a bottle of Jack Daniels and some cineplex gift cards for a Christmas present. Any issues that arose he’d have dealt with as soon as reasonably possible. He was so laid back about it all I actually thought I got ripped off after I gave him the deposit. I was nervous as hell until I got the keys. The four of us who rented that place originally are all gone but two of them stayed for 7 years and friends of theirs have it now. More landlords like that need to exist.
If I were you I’d look for something better but don’t poke the bear in the meantime.

@Citizen Erased again, I could be wrong here so it’s worth talking to the RTB or someone ! As I understood it though, when you agreed to rent the place you were agreeing to rent it as is (which included an oven). You’re not getting what you’re paying for so you shouldn’t have to pay, at least not the full amount.
The last time I rented was in Kamloops about a decade ago. We had a water main burst in our culdesac that left us without water for I think 3 days. Landlord gave us a 100% discount on rent that month.

I'm certainly no lawyer so maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think the landlord can charge you for having a repairman come look at the oven. As a matter of fact, if I remember correctly from my renting days, not only can the landlord not charge you for this but he'll also have to compensate you somehow for the time you've been without an oven.
I could be totally off here though. You might have better luck posting this on r/legaladvicecanada over on Reddit or something.

I wonder how some Canucks choose their jersey numbers.
Take Pettersson and Hughes for example: they wear 40 and 43 respectively. Those seem like bizarre numbers.
I know some numbers have been retired and whatnot, but why 40 and 43?
Those are just 2 examples. The former captain also wore an uncommon number.
Thoughts?
-
@Citizen Erased yep, that's Kuzmenko's birthyear. Petey says he wears 40 because that's what he was given when he was with Timra and he's stuck with it. I'm not sure exactly why Hughes wears 43 but his youngest brother Luke also wears it and the middle brother, Jack, wears its double (86) so there must be some sort of significance to the family.

if a dog eats ice cream too fast, does it get a brain freeze? what do you look for?

Statisa.com lists the 2020 value of the Canucks at 725 million USD. If CDC were to chip in $7576.47 for each of the 95691 member accounts, we could buy it! All the people with several dupes are gonna need to pay up pretty big.

@clam linguine is gonna have to take out a second mortgage on his place to cover his share of the bill.

#SELLTHETEAM
-
@Bell There's not a chance in hell the NHL would approve the relocation of a team out of Vancouver. It's a top 10 market year in, year out. Even when the team sucks. We shouldn't give Aqua even one iota of goodwill because he "keeps the team here".

Even during the dark last couple years of Willie D, finishing in the basement and drafting high, I don't think I missed a game. I'd tape it and stay up til midnight on a weeknight to watch it if I had to. But god dammit am I getting apathetic towards the Canucks this season and getting dangerously close to voluntarily skipping games.
-
@ken kaniff JB’s certainly not perfect but I’ve been a fan and I think the roster he’s assembled for this season is actually pretty decent. There’s no reason it shouldn’t compete for and probably win a playoff spot in this division. @wallstreetamigo is right when he says that the vast majority of the success we’ve seen under Green’s watch was really just on the back of outstanding goaltending. The crap we’re seeing this year has gotta spell the end of the line for Green if it doesn’t turn around in a real hurry. If that happens I suspect JB might go with him or sometime not too long after.

I've always been a JB but I'm not sure how he keeps his job if this doesn't turn around in a hurry. They've spent to the cap (over it actually), traded their last two first rounders (so you really can't trade a third straight), the picks being traded means the prospect pool is now getting a little thin (so you shouldn't be trading what quality prospects you do have), etc etc. I don't see much capital here for JB to improve the team. I think he's played his hand and more or less gone all in with this rendition of the club. I think it's actually a decent team that should be finding a lot more success but after 7.5 years, two coaches hired, and millions upon millions of Aqua's dollars spent, I find it hard to imagine JB being at the helm this time next year.

@Devron44 I just find it hard to justify giving up another Friday or Saturday night to stay in and watch the same thing over and over. After losing another game as a direct result of special teams play I thought there was actually a real chance we'd wake up today and see some sort of changes made to the staff.
