    On a side note the Canuck are -9 out of the playoffs by 5 points, but the redwings are -19 in 8th place… Just shows how weak the eastern playoff race is compared to the west.

      Definitely looks like the East is more top-heavy but the west is deeper.

      West is def more competitive. Pacific is arguably more competitive than some eastern divisions, there ain't no super team in the Pacific right now whereas teams like Washington, Carolina, and Tampa get to beat up on the weaker teams in their divisions.

      Leafs have been a very good team for years now but I still stand by my original diagnosis of them when they signed Tavares:  They are the 2010-2015 Penguins.  They will always be a good team, and probably will make it out of the 1st round at some point, but they'll always be a bridesmaid.  Why?  Because - they have too much cap allocated towards their top players and are a top heavy team as a result.  They won't have the necessary goaltending and defensive depth come playoff time.

    Is it me or has pods been underwhelming in his first season point wise? 
     

    I mean I wasn’t expecting elite lvl numbers from the get go, but 7 points in 27 games is very low imo. 
     

    How long is his leash development wise? Should he be sent down? 
     

    Too many what ifs…

      ^Why the face palm he was drafted to be a point producer not a back checker that is why we have “defencemen”… 

       

      My prediction like Jimbos firing is he might cause some trouble for the Canucks down the line like the other Russians who played for this team if things don’t go their way or the team.

    Yeah I don’t think this will be happening… Essentially 8 years to go with BC crumbling from Covid, Summer record heat, Floods etc.. There is no appetite to invest in such a project with too many problems at home. I think the first Olympics were fine and good enough to show the world what Vancouver has to offer, but second time around would be tiresome and meaningless. and the fact the IOC are greedy and corrupt a-holes who only care about money…

    As long as Rutherford doesn’t trade the core I think everything will be alright… 

     

    So much for Smyl for being interim GM.

    So one could argue now that the dust has settled that Gillis was a better GM than Benning?

      Just appreciate what both GMs have done. Gillis freaking took us to the finals and 1 game away from the cup! (Those people unfairly bashing Gillis is just ungrateful XXXs.) Oh, and also an era of contendership where we were a powerhouse in the league. Benning left us with Pettersson/Hughes/Boeser/Demko/Hoglander/Podkolzin/Miller. Gillis gets the nod from me for sure.

      I liked Gillis. However, he had a lot of excellent parts to begin his tenure with. Benning had to make chicken salad out of chicken sh!t. That said, if Gillis' team had won the Cup in 2011 I guarantee he'd have a statue out front of Roger's Arena.

      Too early to say, depends on what the players Benning drafted go on to do for this organization. His drafting will likely be his legacy.

    Doug Wilson GM of the Sharks since 2003 and Polie GM of the Predators since 1997 :o are currently the longest serving GMs. 
     

    And Canucks fans wanted Benning gone…

      Sharks have fallen off a bit, but they've been consistently competitive since the mid 2000's 

       

      Preds are an odd case, but ownership clearly trusts him

    Seeing how the Canucks mantra is they care about the health and safety of their players I don’t see this happening anytime soon unless the franchise is desperate and hypocritical. We need personal and front office moves.

    What are the odds Pods pulls a Tryamkin and jumps ship? 
     

    One thing I noticed is most Russian players like to win and jump ship once things go sour..

      None? Podkolzin was benched a lot in the KHL. Tryamkin is just a weird case. A guy who thinks he should be playing top 4 minutes after 1 season with the club. Nor is he some super #1, 2 or 3 Dman in the NHL. I think he is just an average player who is really tall... And some comfort secret card for Canucks fans who thinks that we are close to being a contender in the offseason and pull out the we can bring back Tryamkin card.

    Just a quick question… How are these idiots any different from say the black panthers? or any pseudo pro race group? People always talk about white power but never look the other way and see that ethnic people have such groups too.. why is black power not condemned? Don’t these groups create further divisions in society… I could go on how tilted the argument is.

    Well one could argue both groups are at fault carrying guns.. But he is far from a domestic terrorist More like a vigilante. I think manslaughter is the best outcome for this case.

    The real question is how much have you invested in these alt coins? 5x or 8x is meaningless if you have not made at least a return in the $500-$1000s+ of dollars range. I personally stay away from the non-mainstream ones just to be on the safe side and the fact the returns I find are far and between; had some good returns from bitcoin, elth, and lite. A return in the $50,000 range, with around $3000 total invested.

    Yes but Ford is not racist… that is a fact. Just because he stated he wants better immigrants contributing to society doesn’t make him racist or bigoted. He is merely stating an opinion or fact. No wants leaches in society causing trouble. On a personal note I dealt with severe racism while I was in school and it didn’t stop till I reached university… paki loser lol, terrorist, chocolate bar you name it. Both mentally and even physically when I was very young.

    Oh good post deb I was just thinking of posting about this… This year has been bad for the shipping industry and now this. My main concern is the impact on the environment as I read somewhere 40 shipping containers are floating in the sea… with hazardous materials. People wrecking the environment for more cheap goods

    Also unlike other sports or leagues hockey is very deep rooted in tradition... I could not see any other major trophy or championship offered in the NHL other than the Stanley Cup. What goes on in global Soccer/Football is just pure greed as evident from the recent super league fiasco...

    I was thinking about it but I think Seattle and Alaska is good as it gets… 7 day trip. Both don’t require pcr testing and relaxed rules on Covid restrictions.

    What makes you think I am Christian? Because I am not.. I sincerely wish I was lol.. I just support all the major religions and god. Just not committed to any religion atm… maybe Islam in the future or Christianity idk. But one thing for sure is I am not a pinko commie who prefers to bow down to the the “leader” isn’t that how communism works? Xi, Kim, Stalin, Lenin etc..
