DeltaSwede
Unfortunatley wouldn't consider signing with Vancouver. Born in Minnesota, Chicago is another attractive option and also close to home.
stawns
teams that lose players in this manner should be granted an equivalent draft pick from either the NHL or the team that signs the player. It's not right that players from one league can do that but not everyone. I believe CHL players re-enter the draft do they not?
tas
after finals, before draft: to cbj: kevin bieksa +/- to van: kerby rychel, rights to mike reilly bieksa waives when pressured to go back to his college ohio roots, relieve the pressure of playing in a canadian city for a decade, and to join an organization that highly values his experience, savvy and grit to supplement a growing leadership group. this gives van a very narrow negotiating window before reilly's a ufa, but it's a throw-in at that point anyway so whatever. at/near the draft: to nas: dan hamhuis +/- to van: seth jones +/- hamhuis waives when pressured because he has roots, charities, friends, etc in nashville. with weber, josi and ellis, nashville has plenty of offense in the back end but could use a solid second pair shutdown guy to play with ellis. edler-tanev sbisa-weber (to start ...) reilly-jones (assuming they lock down reilly) stanton-corrado clendening i suspect the 3rd pair would become the 2nd pair before the year was over, and corrado would probably supplant weber eventually. You're joking, right? What's your plus going to be? Horvat and then some? Nashville will rightfully want a guy who is or projects to be a 1st line C for Jones. Think closer to Couture or RNH than Hamhuis+. EDIT: Hope Sakic is all over this. We need any NHL ready LD we can get and Reilly would be a great addition. Horvy53
I don't know if Seth Jones is worth 10x more than Hams?? Hams is a solid D MAN prob our best along side Tanev.
Warhippy
Van has nothing Nashville wants that isn't named Horvat Edmonton and Nashville make perfect trade partners though. With Draisatl/eberle/Hopkins there is a very equitable trade there around Jones in nashville

Caboose
Unfortunately, yes. Pegula would have a conniption fit about it and other owners would be spooked about their potential future superstars walking. I guarantee that the rule would change at the next CBA negotiation. No way Eichel forgoes millions and plays before his level for 4 years just to get out of playing in Buffalo. He also seems pretty excited to be on the Sabres, amazingly. WHL rocks
Can't understand the hate for this guy. He's following the rules. As long he's within the rules why can't he pick the team and/or city he wants to play and live in. It's common for players to leave as UFA, this is pretty much the same thing. CBJ's control over this kid is over. he's a FA and now he can leave. A lot of fans don't understand that NHL is a business. You do what's best for your self and your family and then your other business partners which would be CBJ in this situation. Teams don't hesitate to demote or not re sign players all the time. Works both ways. This kid doesn't owe Columbus Blue Jackets anything.

I don't think he will forgo all of that money either. It's just scary knowing that the possibility is there for any top college prospect that your team drafts.. Let's compare prospect pools (idea of future team performance) between your favourite team and mine. That's why he's excited about coming here to Buffalo. slappipappi
Nashville isn't trading Seth Jones. If they decided to move him, it would be for 1 year of an older pretty good d-man. Think about it? They wouldn't trade him for Hammy, Horvat and Vancouver's 2016 1st round pick.

Werenski, Played for Michigan which isn't to far from Columbus. He's going have to switch his legacies though as being a University of Michigan student wouldn't bold well in Ohio State territory...
