JB said he wanted a tough, gritty, non-pouty top 6 forward, so I bet he is working the details on a contract as we speak. Yeah and then announced at a 10am presser tomorrow on Team 1040. Provost
Not a chance... it wasn't that he had a subpar season, it was the entirely unmotivated and lacklustre way he went about it. Right from the start of the season you could tell his attitude was not where it needed to be when he started complaining about line juggling in training camp and not having consistent linemates. Training camp is the time for that sort of experimenting to happen and he just wasn't where he wanted to be. 90% of the blame goes to Radim, and about 10% to the Canucks who were very clear when they lured him here that he would be playing with the twins and then he was the last guy on the team to get a shot there in his second season. There is speculation that the Sedins asked for him not to be on their line, it is really the only thing that makes sense. When the entire team was flailing and you even try putting Dorsett and Pedan on that line for shifts... but not a 30 goal scorer, it means something. Ossi Vaananen
There's two theories as to why Vrbata's production declined as sharply as it did: The first: Attitude. Rumors were he pouted after being moved off of the Sedin line. He didn't show the effort of the prior season. The second: Age/losing a step. Vrbata is in the twilight of his career, and his sharp decline shows that. Either theory hurts Vrbata significantly. If it's attitude, then we probably don't want him back. If he's lost a step, then he's also not of interest. Should be Europe for Vrbata. He has partial ownership of a team in Czech republic, maybe he plays there. Spoosh
I doubt our management would even have as much against it as Mr.Vrbata himself would. No, I don't see it happening.
timberz21
Yes... I hear the Canucks are looking to fill a spot on their ice crew. That fits Vrbata perfectly, you know, floating around, scraping the ice along the half wall(his favorite spot), showing up every once in a while during the game....that job is made for him. He's eager and on time. He's a very productive employee. There are issues and challenges and he seems to find a way. You bring him to the next project and inform him due to some changes your not really sure how you can best use him. You try him in a few places and his production is lackluster. It seems that he was motivated to do finishing work but now you need concrete poured he's always in the Porta potty. You consider moving him to another job site near completion, he comes up with reasons why he can't. He isn't getting the concrete done and he seems to be waiting for his shift to end. He publicly admits he didn't come to do concrete, he could have gone to the other job but basically wasn't interested in cooperation. The job severely suffers and your reputation is tarnished. Contracts come into question and your company falls further away from previous profitability. Your commitments together come to and end and you part ways. Do you rehire him ? His rates have dropped. Can you look him in the eye even? Very good analogy. Hell no I wouldn't hire him! Don't bother using us as a reference either.

Ghostsof1915
If he hasn't been signed now, he's not going to be signed by the Canucks. I swear some fans think of players like ex-girlfriends. Let's bring back so-and-so. Let go, move on. Stop living in the past.
Wilbur
First a "Do we sign Prust" thread now this? Either trolls are getting less creative or we're a "Sign Hodgson" thread away from having a Prust-Hodgson-Vrbata 4th line.
Raymond Luxury Yacht
Vrbata was an illusionist, we played the ultimate disappearing act as soon as he wasn't with the Sedins. His effort was questionable and he was a diva. If the Sedins wanted him on their line last season, he would have been there. There is more chance of me making the team than Vrbata being re-signed. I hope we don't resign him, but if any of our "contract extensions" showed, JB ends up giving it to the wrong players. Ex. Sbisa. Sbisa has always come to play. Always. The guy fought even though he's not a fan of truculence. There is no doubting Sbisa's compete level. Yes, he has shortcomings to his game, but not in his effort level. Vrbata has proven to be a lazy, self-entitled, hack of a winger, who now is reaping the seeds he sowed last season with his wholly uninspiring performance. Benning stated in no uncertain terms that he had no interest in resigning Vrbata. That case is closed. He will be going to Europe and coasting for the remainder of his career. Other teams don't want him because of his season this year with the Canucks, but I don't think that should be a reason not to sign him. He's a goal scorer and is one heckuva player...just had a bad player. You think we'll re-sign him? No but you can go get your vrbata jersey for 50%off at the team store.
