[Waivers] Richard Bachman

Recommended Posts

They kept him on roster this long so that if someone got injured, he'd be ready to go here. Most likely goes unclaimed as many other have their own Richard Bachmans in the minors already and if someone really needed a long-term backup, they'd probably go the trading route to get one rather than taking a chance on Bachman @ 2 year contract. Goes like planned.

And what is his value exactly? He's been in the AHL since 2009. He played 1 regular season game with us and has a 3.00 GAA, and .903% save percentage.

If he's picked up, we find another goalie and put him in Alaska. Have Gar and Demko split the duties in Utica. Win/win.

Come on man... 22k posts, you've been around long enough to see what @Sean Monahan was doing there...

Thanks For the entertainment guys!

Piss poor asset management. Shoulda been traded for picks rather than waived.

Huh?

First of all, we want him in our organization, as he will be the goalie we leave unprotected at the expansion draft.

Secondly, what the hell would a career minor league goalie command on the open market? No team is giving up assets of any kind for this guy. Remember, if a team puts in a claim then they have to keep them on their NHL roster all year. Translation: ain't gonna happen.

Bachman will share duties with Demko in Utica and will be first in line as an injury replacement call up. There are no other scenarios to discuss. Just accept it.

The issue with him being claimed is that he is under contract next year pretty much purely so he can be exposed to Vegas (as we need to expose 1 Goalie). We'd then be in a position of weakness in looking for a goalie in a trade or be forced to expose Marky Mark...

Nobody will claim him, unless they plan on making him their backup all season.

Unless they want to use him as there exposure goalie and trade someone else of more value (bottom dwellers only, obviously)

And round and round the carousel goes...as mentioned above, every team has a Bachman...every team will expose an average goalie to the EXP DRAFT. Pretty sure Las Vegas will be taking one of the current goalies on rosters that were signed to protect other assets (as Bachman was)...

Not so sure about that. Teams can only protect 1 goalie and right now that means Tampa could only protect 1 of Bishop/Vasilevsky and Pittsburgh could only protect 1 of Fleury/Murray. If Vegas was able to get 2 of those 4 goalies in the draft they would have one of the top tandems in the league.
