They're close with a lot of them.

Sedins - B-

They've played with some very crap wingers this year but are obviously 2nd-3rd line players now, big thing is they're slower and defence is much worse but they still lead this team in offence.

Eriksson - C

Next to no offence, a few stupid mistakes but on the whole the only reason he isn't lower is his great defence and PK abilities

Horvat - A+

All-star, he's progressed much more than anyone thought this year and is leading the team in everything, our MVP so far

Baertschi - A

On pace for 20 goals, this was a defining year in his career and his skill is shining through inconsistently. Better, his defence and back checking is pretty damn good too.

Hansen - A

Was our hardest working player, on pace for 20 goals again, injury was the only down-side from this guy having another stellar year, no signs of slowing down

Sutter - A

Clutch goal scorer, up there in offence and he's our shutdown center who's been brilliant defensively. Can't ask for much more from Sutter.

Granlund - A

Came out of nowhere really, like Baertschi could have gone either way, but now he's on pace for 15-20 goals playing with not so offensively minded forwards and a sluggish Eriksson at times. His skill has taken over games at times. Also decent, not great, defensively. He was a wild card in terms of production and he's meeting more than expectations considering where his trade-mate is (Shinkaruk stuck at PPG at the AHL level).

Chaput, Skille, Megna - B

Lump them together because their production is better than their expectation. Megna was supposed to be an AHLer but has cracked it big time for whatever reason, still I don't give these guys an A because they haven't blown any one away, just mildly better than expectation

Gaunce - B-

People expect a former 1st rounder to produce offence but I think Gaunce has done what was expected of him, no more, no less. Solid hard working 4th liner, good PKer, that's about it though. To crack an A you need offence.

Burrows  - A

This guy was expected to end up in the AHL but he's revived his career and bringing Bo and Baertschi with him. Scoring offence, great PKer, he's got jump again but most importantly, mentoring the young guy. Brilliant year for him and may end up on a cup contending team

Virtanen - E

Dreadful in the NHL, dreadful in the AHL, no offence from a 6th overall pick but you knew I'd rate him this. We need to bury him in the minors and not think about this guy for a while as he develops his game from the ground up

-----

Edler - B+

Not the offence we need from him but defensively he's been a rock and WD has him playing bigger minutes than he should be. You notice the difference with Eddy out of the lineup, he's still our best lefty by far

Tanev - B+

Not a great year again but like Edler, sound defensively and has been huge when the two are in the lineup together. Without him our defence really crumbles but not much offence.

Stecher - A+

Considering he came out of nowhere too and ends up leading our team on the PP and top defensive unit, can't ask for much more of a jump from college hockey to the NHL's top pairing. He's been brilliant offensively, shooting the puck, making great passes, eluding pressure in his own zone and apart from the occasional bad positioning or defensive gaff which is really quite rare, he's been solid defensively too. Brilliant year for Stecher so far.

Sbisa - A+

With Edler out of the lineup for a long time, Sbisa held the fort and really rose to expectations. He has been a big reason we're somehow in the playoff hunt still when the wheels really could have come off with our top 2 defencemen out. He's been physical, solid defensively and has eliminated those stupid penalties and defensive mistakes. Great year for Sbisa too.

Hutton - C

Not a great year for Hutton, he's been bad defensively a lot of the time, the passes he was making last year aren't there anymore, his skating is still good but he's struggled at times. Still racking up points but unfortunately he's injured now which might set him back even more. Needs to get back to playing like he did last year but he's going through a very obvious sophmore slump.

Tryamkin - B+

Pretty good so far from the big guy, his physicality has eased off and you can see his game changing before your eyes. Started very solidly, as his minutes rose he made more defensive mistakes but now his game is rounding out, he's more confident, he's skating better and he's jumping up in the rush. I have a feeling he has and is going to take his game to another gear later in the season or next year

------

Miller - A+

This guy has been shelled this year on one of the worst teams in the league and stands strong most nights. The occasional bad goal still, he's not elite anymore, but he's the reason we're anywhere near a playoff spot. Brilliant year for Miller when he easily could have spit the dummy, complained and given up

Markstrom - A

Regardless of the letter grades, its nice to see Jim was right about this team being in the mix for a playoff spot. If we can stay relatively healthy from here on out and get lucky with Boucher, we might get to see Bo get some 1st round experience.

So "one of the worst teams in the league" yet you've rated more than half the team a B+ or higher. Does that mean every player on Wash, CBJ, NYR, Montreal etc rates an A+..?

Teams success from now on depends on Horvat's line being offensively successful and Sutter's line being defensively successful. Given up on the Sedins making a huge impact. D just needs to stay healthy.  Oh and Megna needs to play at least 30 min per game.

For starters ... lets be clear on one thing. These idiots writing these articles have probably watched 5 canucks games all year and probably weren't even paying attention and just saw from their peripheral. They're opening up the stat sheet and making up an article.

Canucks fans shouldn't waste time reading Sportsnet, TSN, Yahoo, NHL.com garbage unless its written by a reputable Canucks source... Murph, Garrett, Shorty, etc... There's some other guys whose words mean something... B Mack and Pierre but not much else.

Second of all... Sbeezus at a C. Cool story.

Sportsnet is garbage and rogers is the most crooked organization in Canada after ICBC. /rant

I guess pretty close to what I"d mark them.  At the start of the year I expected them to be a bubble team, and they're that right now
