Benning has stated previously he doesn't want to mess with Utica's playoff push, they have a big game this afternoon against StJohns...

Another reason why Utica is logistically a bad choice for your farm team. Sucks to be a Comet, when you can't even get a sniff due to planes, trains, and automobiles.

It literally said he's being recalled from the Aces...

Or it's great when the amount of travel for their own games is so minimal. The purpose of a farm team is development, which is a lot easier to do when travel is less. It isn't meant to just be storage for players when we need a guy.

Yeah, thus he's not disturbing the Comets more than he already has.

Has nothing to do with recalling Laplante.

Utica is in a playoff race, simple as that - the Canucks aren't about to deplete them any more at this point - and if they can squeak in, Utica could get a serious influx of support from the Canucks and be in a solid position to go on a playoff run.

Considering guys  like Megna and Chaput were 15th/16th men on the Canucks depth chart before the ridiculous epidemic of injuries hit, it's remarkable that Utica is still in the playoff hunt - having been depleted as a result of Vancouver's misfortune.

If one good thing can happen for the franchise this year, let that be a Utica playoff birth and the opportunity for some young Canucks to experience AHL playoffs.
