Odd.
So Zhukenov is headed to Russia next year. Olson and Neill aren't gonna be signed. So only Boeser and Gaudette remain. RIP 2015 draft

Podz92
Hopefully this is a sign that Benning is setting the standards higher for what he deems a legitimate prospect. Flesh out the weaker guys....

BananaMash
Meh, no point on wasting contract spots on marginal guys. I imagine they've got other plans for the defense prospect pool. Losing a couple of C level prospect isn't going to hurt us.
luckylager
Watched him play in Vic a a number of times - Not a great dman overall. He could clear the crease and throw down effectively, big strong kid, but his passing is pretty weak and he's slow. Not sure I ever saw him take a shot. RIP 2015 draft Boeser, Gaudette, Brisebois, and Jasek all still look very promising. Not to mention Zhukenov will likely come back over here at some point. Still looking like a solid draft. Only thing that has changed is losing two prospects who were long shots to make it to begin with.
King Heffy
A pick that late is a long-shot anyway. If Benning isn't happy with his development and thinks we're better off signing an undrafted UFA or 2, that's the right decision. I like Benning's willingness to walk away from a mistake. Adarsh Sant
Raddysh signing is more likely now that Olson and Neill won't be signed.
Ossi Vaananen
Canucks Army had a boner for him, apparently like 30% of his comparables went on to regular NHLers. I guess JB has more faith in these overagers he's signing as of late. Chatfield, MacEwen, and possibly Raddysh taking up some contract spots. It could also indicate that the Canucks aren't messing around with prospects that they don't perceive as having 'it'. From the '14 draft, everyone received a contract except Petit, that includes Virtanen, McCann, Demko Tryamkin, Forsling (CHI), and Stewart. It looks like only Boeser, Brisebois and Gaudette will be kept from the '15 draft. Jury is still out on Jasek. I don't mind Neill or Olsen as prospects, but the organization must see a clear difference between them and the overagers we're interested in. Blömqvist
For every Olson and Neill there is a Stecher, Chatfield, and possibly Raddysh. Just because we don't sign a prospect that we draft doesn't mean we can't find other means to fill the pipeline. Just so happens that the latter are likely (well, in Stecher's case definitely) better than the former.
