Popular Post winthecup
Good news: Corey Pronman @coreypronman · 4m After playing a handful of shifts in SKA's last few games, VAN prospect Vasili Podkolzin was sent to the VHL today, where he played nearly 20 minutes for SKA's VHL team. 3 1
SID.IS.SID.ME.IS.ME
No points for Podkolzin in that VHL game, but he had 4 SOG, and a late penalty (2 PIM) for elbowing.

Whether from lingering injury or whatever cause, he had a miserable time pivoting to the left and was getting walked on his natural side way too often - not a good attribute on a defenceman. Hopefully his medical repairs have cured him of that problem.
Popular Post GoldenAlien
And just a reminder for how tough it is to crack the SKA lineup: Podkolzin only turned 18 three months ago. Making it onto the opening night roster already shows how highly SKA thought of him. Now he gets a chance to be a leader in the VHL — where he’ll still play against men — and have the inside track for a call up once midseason injuries hit. 1 1

Yes it's a good league playing against men.........if you are actually playing. By the time he actually earns icetime there he will be ready to come overseas. No way Podz will sign an extension in the KHL. He's going to want out of that league as soon as he can.

He would not be getting 20 mins in Utica, it would be similar to Lind last year. Needs to be playing in VHL.

I don't think so. Podz should defect the next time he is in Finland!

At least he's home in Russia, where he has lots of support. I read he's being groomed to be the Russian captain for the U20 Christmas Tournament.
AK_19
I can't imagine his salary being particularly good in the VHL (I'm assuming they have two-way contracts?). He might as well be moved here to the Comets where he'll be challenged much better.
48MPHSlapShot
I'm not going to lie, I'm really not happy with Podz deployment thus far. As much as I'm not all that high on the pick in general, I obviously still want him to succeed and prove me wrong, and I can't see how playing 2 minutes a nigh (or less) will do anything for his development. Even if he were playing on the parent club here he'd be getting a lot more ice time then he's getting right now. It would be nice to get him out of that contract somehow. frank einstein
Love how he chases down the guy who x-checked him and smears him into the boards. Usually see a cheap shot if a pursuit goes halfway around the rink. Not here 1
