This is the difference when Marky doesn’t stand on his head. He’s been masking some poor defensive play that we should have been blown out in other games.

Maybe now they’ll focus on tightening things up a little more.

Totally agree

Marky has covered a lot of defensive sins

Not just him. How many times can he pull out a rabbit out his rear end like he did vs  NYR

The team completely stopped playing. They were headed for the showers before they came out for the 3rd.

Coaches as well. Why didn't Green pull Marky when he was clearly fighting the puck.

Everyone goalie on out to players to coaches packed it in thinking it was over after 2 periods.

It's OK though.

Young team. It's a learning experience. Teams have to learn to win and this was a very good learning moment for them.  And they got a point vs a legit Stanley Cup contender.

Put it behind and move on to Panthers game Monday.

Marky won them the game vs NYR.  it was half court pretty much that 3rd period.

I think by the time 5th goal went in, not sure they want to pull him.  He wants him to fight it through.

Did they? They checked pretty tightly and held the Caps to 6 shots in the 3rd. They were still skating hard. The D's timing was just a tenth of a second off on Kempny's two shots. They blocked Markstrom from seeing the puck and didn't manage the blocks. 9 times out of 10, either the D makes contact or Markstrom stops those.

They also kept the entire Caps top line to only 2 SOG and were a -6 combined. With that said, there should be no excuse to giving up a 4 goal lead against a tired team but the Canucks had no puck luck in the third.

“We gave up 7 shots in the 3rd period, and I gave up 3 goals. I’ve gotta be better. The team played great.” - Markstrom

Not solely on Markstrom but definitely could of been better.

Team didn't start the 1st and 3rd periods well

"It's a learning experience just like with the Rangers, we talked after the game when they made their push in the third to trust [our game]. It's something that is learned, it doesn't just come, especially with a bunch of new guys. We obviously are disappointed with the loss tonight and are not happy with it, we've already had a meeting, we addressed it. It's things that we have to learn from and get better as a group. It's not just one guy, it's everyone. We have to make sure we stick to our system, and that we stay on teams and we stay on our toes and continue to go after them. When teams raise their level, we also have to raise our level, and you saw that today and you saw it against the Rangers too. In the third period they raised their level and we kinda stayed the same. So we have to make sure that we learn to raise our level and put teams away, and that's something that is learned. It's something that you can only learn by going through it."  - Beagle

New guys?Only a quarter of the team are new guys at most, lol

We scored 5 goals against a top team.

Schooled? Come on now.

A veteran team who’s recently won the cup just showed our boys what it takes to win. Doesn’t matter how many goals we score, they scored more. (Sort of)

Im hoping our team takes notes, and comes away a stronger, more resilient team after this.
