Obviously a huge win. TBH I thought Bo's goal shouldn't of counter, TS though. the nhl changed the rule a year or two ago and the puck if your skate is turned and as long as he didn't kick it , which he didn't , it is then a good goal. 2

Popular Post The_Cherry
Not a pretty win, but an amazing team effort. Love to watch games like that, especially against Edmonton. Markstrom is a stud. Happy Festivus and Merry Christmas!

We’ve seen more than our fair share of it. That being said that goal was 100% a goal. Nothing to debate really unless you’re a salty Oilers fan. Yeah, I was a little nervous that we'd get screwed over, but first replay after I saw Koskinen complain, and I was confident it was a goal. Just glad the league got the call right, too
Popular Post Kragar
Nicely done, boys. Christmas came a little early this year, and I thank you for the wonderful presents these last 3 games. Enjoy some well deserved time off, and keep on streaking!! 3
ShawnAntoski
I like how the Canucks are finding ways to win. Also, I went to one of the Oilers blog and I had to chuckle because the main complaint, is that the Zebras handed them the loss. I guess, they were not watching the last game the Canucks and Oilers played, when they were handed three straight powerplays (if I remember correctly) due to Nurses' embellishments - short selective memory. Also, it seems Nurse was not doing any of his antics during a majority of this game (perhaps, a warning was given ?). Even after the puck had left them, you had someone tangle up or in their face all game long. Motte, Virtanen, Pearson, Horvat, Pettersson, Miller, Beagle, you name it. Someone was nearby and giving them a tough time tonight. Very impressed by the collective shutdown of those two. Some random thoughts on tonight's game. 1. Great to go into the Christmas break on a 3-game win streak. Despite a tough 6 weeks in November and early December the Canucks go into the break in pretty much a 5-way tie for the first five spots in the Division. (Not quite a tie, but it's close.) And, with the toughest part of the schedule behind them and being relatively healthy, I am feeling good about their chances of making the playoffs. 2. I thought the star of the game was Pearson. On his first shift he made some nice plays against McDavid and Draisaitl and he kept it up for the whole game. As others have mentioned, Horvat, Pearson, and Eriksson had the primary shutdown responsibility against McDavid and did a great job -- not just containing the McDavid line, but also getting on the scoreboard. Pearson made a great play on the Horvat goal, shortly after ringing a shot off the crossbar, and he had a lot of good chances. The trade of Guddy for Pearson is looking great now. 3. On Horvat's goal, I thought it was right on the borderline of being disallowed. You are allowed to angle your skate. However, Horvat's skate did follow the puck on what looked like a follow-through toward the net, but I think the puck came off his skate before the follow-through motion began. It was close, though. 4. Great to see Hughes get the GWG. It was poetic justice. That goal was very similar to the Edmonton PP goal -- a screened shot from the blueline on the PP. (Great screen by Horvat.) Hughes played another strong game and contributed a lot to keeping the puck away from McDavid as much as possible. And he led the team in time on ice. Definitely a serious contender for the Calder. 5. I did not mind seeing Loui get the empty net goal. It was good of Edler to pass him the puck when Edler could have scored pretty easily himself. But Loui earned it tonight. I think he probably played his best game of the year. And he can still play PK and shutdown effectively, as he did last year. He could help the team in the second half. 6. Speaking of Edler, it is great to have him back. He did not lead the team in TOI tonight (Hughes did), and I thought he showed some rust at times. But he was still very good and the team is just much better with him playing. 7. With Edler coming in, someone had to sit out and Jordie Benn sat out. I thought that was the right call, but I was a bit surprised. I think Fantenberg has outplayed Benn. Benn has been okay but, to be honest, I expected a bit more. And Fantenberg has been surprisingly good, although he was beaten by Nugent-Hopkins on the first Edmonton goal tonight. Still, he played a solid game and I like his physical presence. 8. Back to the Nugent-Hopkins goal. I think the biggest problem was a weak backcheck by Boeser. Boeser had an assist tonight on the Hughes goal, but I thought both Boeser and EP had quiet nights. I think they can both use a few days off. 9. Credit to Motte for strong play since coming back from injury for a nice goal tonight. He surprised Koskinen. You don't see that play very often -- a shot coming right off the faceoff -- and it got the game off to a good start. 10. I like Qwags' comment about diving. Fans always think the opposing team does more diving. But I really do think Edmonton does more diving than most teams. And Nurse is the worst offender. 11. Best wishes to everyone for the Christmas break. (And everyone gets a break, whether they celebrate Christmas or not.) 2

Consistent play isn’t reflected in a 10 game stretch with a record of 6-4. This team is growing I get that, but there’s too much depth of quality players to just be content with a mediocre record.. This group has some great energy and can play against the top teams and win. Not consistently, but this group has 38 games together. New players this year. Hughes, Myers, Benn, Fattenburg, Miller, Gaudette, Demko, Ferland. That's a massive roster turnover in one off season. The right signs are there. This team has been getting better over the year. It is not linear and the november slump is and was expected. Last year we, what lost 11 of 14 in that span. This season we were a 5-5-3. I think. Trending is still positive even with November factored into it. Looking at the top teams, they have all had alot of time together. That is something that this group will get, in time. 3
