Losing sucks.

However this Canucks team, lead by baby faced youth is bound for a cup one day.

Vegas has great depth and veterans who are in the prime stage to contend.  Don't be shook by losing to a team like that in the stage the Canucks in.   What a great glimpse for the Vancouver team.

With proper contract management and experience the Canucks will be contenders in a few short years.

Develop our prospects in the system  and a key signing or trade and we will be lucky lucky Canucks fans.

Thanks buddy...

Some people just can't see the forest for all the trees...

Have to say it loud and clear so it can be heard in the back rows as well... Our window is just slowly starting to open. These are baby steps and NOBODY bar Apollo expected us to win the Cup this year... What was it Benning said the average age for winning was? and tell us again what the age are of the core players... If anyone isn't encouraged by, what we've seen the last few weeks, they aren't fans...

The future is here.

Once the playoffs are over, it will be fun to debate the perceived window.

Of course a lot of the window will depend on prospects becoming impact players and serviceable role players, but trades, UFAs, etc can change the roster overnight, like JB did last time.

Transitioning from rebuild/construction to production in that way May result in a lag in the quality of prospects from that point onwards, which must accompany assessing the window.

Edler, Tanev, Beagle, Sutter, and whoever else, might not be part of the peak tnis roster is about to go through.

Miller, Pearson, Tofu, and a few others are statistically nearing their peaks, while the NHL is supposedly getting younger.

The window for this roster is entirely variable and we have nothing to do as fans but wait and see, and that’s the fun part, sometimes

Just thinking on this. Tofolli and Pearson were on those come back Kings teams that won 2 Stanley cups...I really hope some of that experience comes out in the next game! Hungry and hard on the puck. Play a no non sense game. I’d sit Rooster for MAC. I love him but I think he’s become a distraction. Vegas has thrown his game off, not he other way around.

I agree with all of this.

Love Rooster and his willingness to not back down.  To stand toe to toe and show no fear.   But that game is the one they want us to play...it's their game.  I prefer Mack too because he hustles out there and lays some big hits.  If Jake isn't going to do much I wish he'd also use his body more.  Vegas gets a little rattled when they're a step behind.

We'll get him back probably at the end of the KHL season.Their last regular season game is on Feb 27 2021. He'll still be 26. He'll likely sign a show me contract of 2-3 M which I think JB will do.

His intention was to play here, and I still think it is.

He's still a RFA.  There's still a signing deadline for RFAs (was 1 December in the past).  It's a quarter into the season and he might miss it again.

Also if somehow he can meet the signing deadline,  if Ferland is on LTIR they would have to have his full cap hit available as the team can't bank cap space.  Clearing 2-3M in the middle of the season might not be all that easy.

We played a damn good game overall.  One lucky bounce off a skate and another unlucky one off the post.  Could have ended very differently.  Vegas has their golden horseshoes and blind refs helping their cause.

This team isn't meeting your

As much as I hate Reaves, I'd take him on our team. He makes weasels like Marchessault, Smith & Cousins feel a foot taller & 50 lbs heavier.

These guys are such unicorns that it adds to Reaves value even though he barely plays. Its too bad what's happened with Ferland. We need to find another one.

He was considering coming here, even came to town to talk to Benning when he was a ufa.    He ended up with Vegas.

Dec 1 was mid season last time, but it might be our about our starting date this year. So Feb 27 might work this time. (his last game)

No, I think it contributes.

All teams have deficiencies and it's those who put Vegas on a pedestal like they don't that likely need reminding of that.  It gets a little tiring at times.

This team of ours is very special and it'll all get put into place even further moving forward.   But momentum can swing with a lucky or unlucky goal.  That game could have gone either way.  One thing I will say about Vegas is they strike while the iron's hot.  They don't let down at all after a goal, they use the momentum to keep pressing.  The go ahead goal for them was lucky.   And then the dagger goal.  Happened fast.

So explain the tendencies you speak of.

I feel your pain...me too re job loss, loss of pet of 10 years, Dad's struggling/pretty much bed ridden (I care for him but he lives alone), son rushed to ER then daughter in law the same week.  And COVID after having spending the past 2 years trying to avoid a deadly rabbit virus that's running rampant.  It's a lot.

Hockey for me offered hope.  Some light in the dark tunnel.  I'm not ready to give it up yet.  I usually am so amped up for the playoffs and would continue watching even after we're out...not sure this year I have the will to.  It's deflating to think of this wrapping up, even if it has really been bonus time.  But it sure infused some energy and positivity at a time that it was very much needed.  A lifeline.  And the uncertainty of the future means we don't know when it'll be back once it's done.  It's all overwhelming at times.

Sports is the only thing for me when family is not there.  It's life.

Hang in there, my friend...and I will too.   Hope your Dad (and mine) get some relief and pain free moments.

Much obliged Deb, I’m hangin in there! Dad is seeing a specialist now, getting answers will help us move forward.

My heart goes out to you and your family as well. Time heals all wounds they say, but they never tell you how to pass the time while you’re going through IT, stuck in slow motion. Keep a light heart as much as you can, and keep the light ahead in the tunnel, don’t let it go out...My hope for everyone going thru tough times is that is passes by with as much ease as possible, and then allow us the time and grace to recover, reflect, and heal. There is a lot of hurt out there right now. It’s hard to take all of it in at the same time.

Hockey, indeed, a very welcome distraction from it all. I know people argue whether it’s worth it or not. And I say absolutely yes it has been worth it.

All the best,

Cheers

Good thing we never signed Tryamkin, he wouldn't have been useful at all this series.

Still I am happy with this team - I do think TG could be better but him and the players are all young and they are all learning. On top of that they have exceeded all expectations this year so can't fault em with that. I'm happy we even won a game against Vegas or for that matter we held our own too. Maybe we could even make em sweat here too. Something happens to players when a series is on the line, it'll be exciting to see what happens Tuesday.

For the future, I think our younger D coming up like Jet Woo and Joulevi will pay off in the years to come. Excited for this team!

And look at the bright side folks the 20-21 season will start sooner than later anyway and we will get more hockey, woo hoo.

Sign the big Russian JB what you thinking bud, he's an X factor for sure.

I don't think much has changed regarding the window tbh...

Good part being the core players has shown they can deal with the play offs, as there is zero doubt, that injury apart, they are only going to get better over the next couple of years.

in two years: Miller 28, Bo 27, Brock 26, EP 23, Quinn 22, Marky 31, Myers 31 Podz 22, Jake (if still here 27), Toffoli 30, Gaud 26, Pearson 30, Demko 27, Podz 21, MacEwan 26.... Have only mentioned Podz of the prospects as it remains to be seen, how many makes the grade...

Big contracts and re-cap penalties will start to vanish, so pending on how we fare with our D-prospects (hope we get another mean D-man, who can play as well).

We are not far from a team, where the core players are in the age range, Benning was talking about... The remaining roster spots can be found through FA or trades or through our prospects pool, as a few more are likely to make it.

I think, this is, where we will start to make real noise, although wouldn't mind us doing so before that :)

"Hockey for me offered hope.  Some light in the dark tunnel."

I felt exactly the same. 2020 has been a horrible year for me as well. I had zero hope for the playoffs this year, I thought that hockey would take their lumps and gear up for a season starting in October. I saw how the Canucks did without Markstrom, and I feared that they would simply fall out of a playoff spot in the end for their fifth season without playoffs, which would be a franchise record.

I was pleasantly surprised with the Minnesota series. I disagreed with how the NHL ran it, I thought that they should take points percentage and cut it off when the season stopped. I thought that was the fairest way to run it, so that teams that didn't get as many games had an equal opportunity to make the playoffs. I think the 'expanded one-time tournament' was not a bad way to do it. Happy they beat Minny to arrive at the real playoffs.

Then they knock off the cup champions in an absolutely thrilling series. Me and my brother had been watching the series together. We really like the grit and the heart in this new team and I was looking forward to more years with Quinn Hancock.

Then this. They would never do it for Republicans. They didn't stop play for the girl and her father who were shot by thugs. No, they did it for a man who raped a 15 year old girl. They forget what Jordan said many years ago, "republicans buy shoes too". Hockey has had a tough year, but the in your face preaching the tired old saw of 'racism', "you are racist unless you agree with us". Why would I want to be a part of that toxicity and participate in it?

So I'm out. They have said, "we believe so strongly to tell you that you hate and what you believe is wrong, that we are willing to stop playing to stand out there and tell you that you have to agree with us or we'll call you racist". Yeah. Sure. And see above in this thread. Again, "you must agree with us or we'll call you racist".

That is toxic behavior. I wanted to like this team and cheer them on, and see what they would do. But until they issue an apology to all of their fans, I'm not interested in watching the remnants of this playoff run. Nor will me and my brother watch together. We can do other things like playing games together - where we don't have to see advertisements telling us, "you are racists unless you agree with us".

I thought it was all about the hockey. But sadly, it's not. I've waited 5 years for this to see the Canucks in a relevant playoff game, and they decided it was worth cancelling those games to "make their point". Got it. Loud and clear. Get Woke, Go Broke
