As soon as Benning declared Demko the goalie of the future and that we'd be protecting him, everyone should have been able to put 2+2 together that Marky want coming back. Short of Loui E off the books, it was a forgone conclusion he was gone regardless of Demko's play in the postseason imho.

He's also talking down on people all the time, making him like Wetcoaster 2.0. Anyway, pretty sure Markstrom will sign more than 5. Yung1
Looking at twitter, it seems this is very very unconfirmed. The thread title tag should be changed to [Rumour]. From what it looks like, its a bidding war between Calgary and Edmonton at this point.

It's a one horse race if it's down to these two teams. Come on Detroit or Carolina. Come in and scoop Marky up. Edit: Edmonton according to capfriendly doesn't have a 2nd goalie or a 6th and 7th defender. Unless they use rookies in all 3 positions. And if they do that's like what 2mil for all 3 positions filled via rookies? So they have even less cap than is shown even if they fill holes with rookies. Marky's contract will confirm whether or not Marky had a chance at coming back. We have the cap space to offer him. The problem is we also have Demko who has shown glimpses of being a starter, we have the expansion draft to worry about and for all we know Marky wants a NMC. We aren't exposing Demko for 3-4 years of Marky. So it's very likely that even without Eriksson's contract we don't re-sign Marky.
Dazzle
Andy Strickland is normally very credible, but he was at least at one point associated with Eklund...........
Spoosh
You'd think having a chance to play on a team with McDavid and Draisaitl would go ahead of many other teams. If you trust in your abilities to improve the teams goaltending - that would be my choice.

Clearly leaving for security, term ED protection, clear starting role etc. We were likely offering $5m+... Not about money. At all. Barry_Wilkins
Lotsa people hate seeing their favourite players move to a division rival. Not me. Van-Cal games are now must-see hockey. And more divisional games, too, especially with start of year (probably) with Covid travel protocols. Bring it on!
