The doctor wasn't going to test me for covid initially until I brought it up and asked if they were going to test me and he said "if you want", he then said they are basically giving tests to anyone who wants one at this point. Do you know if there are any positive cases in CR?

Willow Creek School has been closed for almost two months and will reopen on Thursday, sending 56 students and 18 staff members back to finish off the semester, according to The Associated Press. The school district reportedly surveyed the population around the small Montana community and found that three-quarters of parents would like their kids to return to school, even though there is only a little more than two weeks left until summer break. Of course, they'll have to do a sweep for Grizzlies, first......

Popular Post RUPERTKBD
Props to this doctor in Montreal. This can't have been an easy decision: https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/canada/brownstein-sikh-doctor-chooses-to-shave-in-this-time-of-need/ar-BB13BURJ?li=AAggXBV Quote The COVID-19 crisis has compelled people around the planet to grapple with all manner of moral dilemmas. For Montreal physician Sanjeet Singh-Saluja, it has forced him into the difficult position of having to reconcile his medical oath with his religious values. Singh-Saluja, associate chief of the department of emergency medicine at the MUHC’s Montreal General and Royal Victoria hospitals, had already been dealing with the COVID-19 battle. He wanted to become even more involved, but the mandatory N95 mask could not fully cover his beard, thus preventing him from getting closer to infected patients. So the question became: to shave or not to shave. This is hardly a vanity issue. Singh-Saluja is a deeply religious Sikh, and according to the tenets of his religion, one of the pillars of his faith, “kesh,” is the practice of “allowing one’s hair to grow naturally out of respect for the perfection of God’s creation.” owever, another of the pillars of his faith is “seva,” which relates to service toward mankind. Singh-Saluja, 44, also an assistant professor of medicine at McGill University and the team physician of the Montreal Impact, was thrust into an existential crisis. He could have chosen to avoid getting too close, but at a time when health-care workers are falling ill by the score and are being quarantined, he felt it would go against his oath as a physician and the principles of seva not to serve the greater good. After consulting with religious advisers, family and friends and much soul-searching, Singh-Saluja, along with his MUHC neurosurgeon brother Rajeet, decided to shave. “It was an extremely difficult decision for us, but one that we felt was absolutely necessary in this time of need,” Singh-Saluja says. “It’s a decision that has left me with much sadness. This was something that had been so much part of my identity. I look at myself in the mirror very differently now. Every morning when I see myself, it’s a bit of a shock.” The Impact was so moved by his stand that it produced two videos, one in which Singh-Saluja outlined his position and another in which team members and president Kevin Gilmore showcased their beardless-solidarity. “Originally when my brother and I did this, my brother wanted to keep it very quiet and didn’t want any publicity,” Singh-Saluja says. “We still have a really hard time with it. But when I saw what the Impact had done with everyone having shaved, I wanted to get across a team message, so I read my explanation for the video.” Singh-Saluja has dealt with all sorts of outbreaks over the years, but the coronavirus is in a class all its own, and hence the necessity for the N95 mask now. “We’ve never seen anything like this in our lifetime. This disease spreads in such fast form. There are so many people out there in its path. When we got cases of tuberculosis or even SARS, I always had a backup with me, another doctor, who I could also ask to help me out. “But because COVID-19 has become so rampant in our community, it just wasn’t feasible anymore (not to wear a N95 mask). There are so many people coming in. I felt I just couldn’t sit on the sidelines. This was an exception to the rule, so we had to do what we had to do to help out.” His brother Rajeet was in a similar predicament and would no longer have been able to operate on COVID-19 patients. “There are so many infected people out there. And even so many people that you wouldn’t suspect have COVID turn out to have it. What’s so frightening is just how quickly some people deteriorate. They could seem fine one day, and then two days later, they’re in intensive care. It’s the rapid progression that’s the real alarming part of this disease.” Singh-Saluja has noted that there are two types of health-care workers coping with the coronavirus. “There are those who aren’t overwhelmed, but are very scared. And there are others of us who have become almost numb to the situation, where we now accept this as our new reality and are coming to terms with it.” On the other hand, talk of herd immunity gives Singh-Saluja pause. “That frightens me, because I believe we’re in for a second wave, and I don’t foresee this going away any time soon. We have to be prepared for the long haul, and if young people think they’re immune to this, they’re definitely wrong. “There’s a light there at the end of this tunnel, but it’s still pretty far away.” 1 5
