That all started with Quinn Hughes forcing a play instead of dropping it back off the end wall. Had lots of support and decided to turn it over on a nothing play.

Seems that’s only for pucks going off crossbars shot by the offensive team, not for pucks shot/deflected, those should still be in the neutral zone.

 

One exception to the above shall be when the puck deflects off the goal frame, including the goal post or crossbar, when caused by either team, either shot directly or deflected off any player or official, the face-off shall always be conducted in that end zone at the nearest face-off spot.
