Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, Has Died

74 years he was married to Queen Elizabeth, plus the actual courtship.

For almost 8 DECADES he loved that woman.

I won't mourn the guy but i'll mourn for her loss.

Have a sad feeling she won't be far behind now

That's my fear. Usually couples like this, I know there might not be medical evidence. But, a pillar of your life goes, they lose the desire to carry on. She does have her corgi's, horses, and her great grandchildren. He might have had good and bad things, but in the end he was always by her side. At the end of day, that's what matters.

I've seen a number of people go like this.  one a few days one a few weeks and another about 5-6 months.  Really thought my stepdad was going to after my mom passed too but he hung on

I won't be shocked one bit.  This to me is the end of the monarchy as we know it

Well maybe the Queen needs to designate William as her successor.

Yep, just saw it recently with siblings.   My Dad's younger sister lived with their younger brother ... she'd had a tough life and raised four kids on her own when her husband died in an accident.  So she moved in with him.  When Bill died this year leaving her on her own in the middle of nowhere, it wasn't long until she went too.  Within about 6 months or so of each other.

My next door neighbours too.   One passed within a very short period of the other...I feel like when someone depends on another and they're gone, they maybe give up a little.

No matter how you feel about the Royals, a death is one of sadness to friends and loved ones.  99 years is a heckuva run and it seems he passed away peacefully at home.   May he RIP.

Dang, those costumes look regal!

Hard for us, even though we are a 'colony', to understand the symbolism/importance of the monarchy to those countries who have that system in place.

As mentioned, one has to wonder how long the Queen will be with England?

She is a tough cookie. I think she'll keep on keeping on.

Trained as a Mechanic and Truck driver for WWII. She was part of the Auxilliary, which makes her the only female monarch to have served. Tough indeed....

To make people feel a bit better about Liz's prospects, I'll add a bit of personal experience: My dad passed in January of 2018, about 5 months ahead of his 95th birthday.

My mom, who has had health issues related to obesity for the past couple of decades, is still going strong. She celebrated her 87th in November.

The were married for 61 years when my dad passed.
