Shouldn’t he be a LW as he’s a right shot?

A lot of European wingers play the opposite side to their stick handedness - they are playing on the wider ice and it helps to get a better angle for their shot. Plenty of North American wingers do this too, as they are able to protect the puck better on their off wing when driving the net, but it is easier to get out of your own zone on your natural side. However, in the modern game, wingers often switch side on the attack and end up covering initially on their offside as they recover to their own zone.

Exactly. Also, watch Danila play left side on the power play during the U18 World Juniors when he scored all those goals.

Yeah  -  it was amazing how often the PKers left him alone in his favorite position. ...  same as with Ovi.  They needed to switch from a box to a diamond, to have a man always covering him.  But they didn't and paid the price.  Staple a player to Klim's shoulder and defend the rest of the Penalty as a 3 on 4 and taken your chances -  with his shot the percentages are better being a man short against 4 lesser skilled players

2 goals in 2 AHL games so far for the kid, doubt he'll get a chance of a call up this season but hopefully he'll get a bit more of a shot next year as still only a teenager. It all comes down to his defensive play, if he's responsible in his own zone then Green will call him up sooner rather than later, but let's just hope he gets top-6 minutes all year long in Abbortsford.

Just imagine the power play with Pettersson on the right side and Klimovich on the left side as 2 trigger men :-)

Brock says hey.

Fair, but how often is Brock used in that role in games? Petey scored a lot more on the power play from the right hash marks compared to Brock's scoring on the power play from the left hash marks. For some reason he's not fed one-timers as often as Petey.

Yeah Im hoping they use him more in that role as well. Seems weird not having one guy on each side just rifling shots, both have elite shots I wouldn't be suprised to see both of them pot 30-35 goals this year. Canucks PP can be predictable at times. Danila looks very good so far, hope he keeps it up.

Boeser has occupied that spot in the past (prior to Miller’s arrival I think) and he wasn’t as effective as he is down low, in my opinion based on my recollection of it. He’s a good passer from that spot down low and he’s got good hands to deflect shots and score goals in tight. I think he’s actually a better goal scorer in that role (where he can slide a little further out to take passes too) than he is as a pure shooter or one-shot type of scorer. It wasn’t the case earlier in his career but his game has evolved that way in my opinion.

And that gif- as a fan of Canuck and Canadian hockey, that’s a pretty cool moment seeing Sid approach a young Boeser to shoot the crap like that.

Left shooting defenceman on our point on the pp.  Since He can stand on or with skates over the blue line to make that setup to Petey on the right sideboards, he has more room, its a tougher pass to Brock on the left half wall, especially when there is close pressure.

This kid is why I'm not worried about the cap crunch when it's time to renew Bo and Miller.

It is great to have that kind of optimistic viewpoint. But let's get 1 thing straight...this is an 18 year old kid with 2 AHL goals, let's not jump to conclusions he can takeover for a PPG player in JT Miller in 2 years time. If he does that would be incredible, is it likely to happen...nope, not that soon if ever.

Remember, we need to temper expectations of our prospects

My hope is that he can fill Podkolzin's spot and Podz can move up.
