[Proposal] Van - Pit a young RHD at the cost of the future

Recommended Posts

Vancouver gets

John Marino

Filip Lindberg Goalie Prospect

Pittsburgh gets

Jack Rathbone

Tyler Motte

Tucker Poolman

Michael DiPietro

Canucks get Quinn his partner for the next 4 years at under $5,000,000 cap hit and under 25 years old and is playoff tested and losing Rathbone is going to sting and is going to suck when he wins the Calder next season and the Canucks also lose fan favorite Tyler Motte.

Let’s hear yeah apes throw your crap on this now

Basically 2 roster players in Poolman and Motte and 2 near NHL prospects in Rathbone and DiPietro.

And, Poolman is a RHD, so we are giving up a RHD to get another RHD so we are back to where we were, short one quality RHD.

Don't really know much about John Marino and the goalie prospect but I love the trade... for the Penguins. They need all the help they can get to make another run while Crosby and Malkin are still playing at high levels.

Filip Lindberg and he was the goalie the Canucks goalie coach wanted them to draft but Minnesota  jumped them in the draft and is probably 3 years away but could be awesome

REALLY great trade, for PITTSBURGH!!!

Rathbone on his own, could easily eclipse Marino.

DiPietro for Lindberg is essentially a wash, both guys have potential, although, I REALLY like DiPietro's compete level.

I think we're far better off staying with what we've got.

Not really a fan of the deal as the Canucks don't need another smallish PMD.  Yes, Marino is a RHD, but what we need is a defensive RHD that can be the ying to the yang of QH and/or OEL.  Lastly, for all we know, Jack Rathbone could end up being better than John "I wasn't in Ace Ventura like Dan was" Marino.

Or we can do something really insane like try and draft a RHD?

Jim Benning already drafted one (currently top 4 D on a playoff team that can play either the left or right side):

Unfortunately our pro scouting told us to trade him for a guy that couldn't skate.

Are you a Pens fan? Canucks wont trade Rathbone straight up for Marino, nevermind adding to that in Di pietro, poolman  and motte.

The funny thing is Canucks werent the only ones to give up on him, as Chicago traded him for peanuts and Canes waived him, later to be claimed by the Panthers. So thats like 4 to 5 years removed from when he was drafted by Canucks. I probably wouldnt see him with Canucks even if the Canucks didnt trade him, because they have Hughes now and Rathbone.

Canes had then & still today have a deep blueline.  Probably wouldn't see him on the Canucks?  Didn't realize the Canucks blueline was so deep.
