Going to guess,  to CAR for Necas and Bear

would you really be happy with that deal? another 3rd pairing d and another top 9 winger? We might be able to develop Necas into a functioning C but right now that looks like a bit of a long shot, we'd have to be happy with him as maybe a 2nd line winger as his ceiling.

Wouldn't be thrilled with the return, but I'd be okay with it, thinking long term.

I wonder if the expectations are a little high on what VAN would be getting back. Besides, a young, skilled r-shot C with good size, and a young r-shot D with an edge is what the team needs. Maybe CAR throws in a mid-round pick?

Better than losing him for nothing, no?

No more than 7.5 for 5 years.

He has scored more than a point a game in 2 seasons

His career points per game are .712

He will be 30 when his next deal starts.

I would not pay him like  a 100 point guy- which he did not actually do

I would not pay him like a point a game guy- which he has done on two occasions, out of 7 full seasons

Career year, not going to be repeated.

Seldom hits a point per game, might get that for a couple of years-might.

Most likely to drop down to his career average area.

Good solid player- not a great player. Should not get great money, and certainly not for a long term.

Kadri is the most comparable

Worst case scenario you'll have a considerable amount of cap-room to go UFA shopping with.  That'll be the only planb if they botch things up that badly.

Those are two of our very few efficient contracts right now.

We can’t replace their production and contribution for that cap hit on the open market.

If those two walked for nothing in return, it would probably be wise to tear it all down and start again as our trio of young stars (Demko, Petterson, and Hughes) will be too old and also be walking for greener pastures rather than re-sign on a team that can’t go anywhere.

Bear is OK, still kind of on the small side tho.

I guess I look at it differently, we're giving up an elite-adjacent player, we should be getting at least the potential for that back. Necas seems like a bit of a long shot to reach that but maybe he's got more but so far he hasn't shown that. But it took JT a while to develop too.

I don't really care about the number of bodies back, I care more about the tier of talent in the return. More middle 6 F / bottom pair d doesn't really do much for us.

Maybe,  but absolutely nothing present ownership has said or done in their time here indicates to me they have any interest whatsoever in a complete rebuild. So if Bo/Miller walk for nothing,  I fully envision management seeking out whatever replacements they could find in UFA.

Edit:  That said,  I'm confident at least one (Likely Bo) stays and they manage to deal the other for some kind of useful asset.

right now I'm having a coffee and looking at writing an SOP for incoming product for a client. How many worlds per min can you type?

I'll see if I can convince my Mom out of retirement; she was over 100 per at for a few years.

She will probably tell me a word I've heard an awful lot over the years "No" :(

I really can't stop thinking how our Center man are going to look like once the dust settles. Are we going for the combo of Hank/Kessler again? Behind Petterson, will Bo be able to withstand aggressive play from another 2011 Boston team? Would a player like Miller be more suited for this role?

I really think this dilemma has a lot to do with Bo and Miller not being signed yet.

Some big  decisions need to be made which will directly affect the future of this team.
