I don’t think Russia has realized just how far its fallen in hockey. They shot themselves in the foot this year by making the team Russian playing hockey players only. The obsession for purity is only hurting them. Their KHL and talent problems are also due to their bravado thinking they actually have any leverage in the sport anymore. This faux macho shtick they’re doing is going to get them nowhere fast. The NHL can live without Russian players just fine, but they think they’re owed more by the league.
