We should be trading Miller if the offers are Newhook, Byram and a first equivalent.

Offers are most certainly not that. Teams are willing to move B prospects and late firsts. A+ prospects aren't going anywhere. Impact players on ELCs are too valuable to contending teams. We will never get full value for Miller. Trading him means trading him for scraps, guaranteed.

Overpayment.  Calgary still needs to solve their character issues and bring in some actual veteran leadership  Lucic teaching Tkachk how to be an even bigger scumbag than he already is does not qualify as leadership.  They'll get smoked in the first round again with gutless cowards in their top 6 like Tkachuk, Monahan, and Gaudreau.

MT has actually toned down his antics quite a bit compared to seasons past. He gets in opponents faces and riles them up ever so often but does not run players or do anything all that dirty. He just doesn't back down and has done a good job saving his energy to put up points. Him and JG have been lights out together this season.

Even if he's cut out a little bit of the crap, he's still a cancer in the room and a complete disgrace to the sport.  He'll never turn into a real man and Calgary will never win anything as long as he's there.  Just wait until the playoffs hit and he turtles like the worthless piece of garbage that he is.  No one in their right mind has any respect for the turtle.

Okay if these guys are getting these returns then maybe we should be trading Miller. This is Lafreniere, Kakko, Schneider, First territory

its cap retentention, even old myers would return a first and a 3rd if we retained half his salary

Then those teams (Avs and Rags) will not win.  They will get close, but will ultimately lose to teams like Tampa and Florida who are willing to go all in.  We will keep Miller and re-sign him.  He will lead us to Cups.  We will win either win, and the Avs and Rags will finish third.  F' em.  They have loser attitudes.

To be honest, I don't think GMs, presidents or owners care as much about cups as they do about longevity. There interests are different than ours. Most folk here would probably take one Stanley Cup if it meant 10 years of mediocrity, but we don't have a financial stake in the franchise like they do.

On a completely unrelated note, I think it's asinine that you can't retain on a specific number of years of a contract any more. We'd see a lot more deadline action and probably more teams willing to go all in if the retention rules were more flexible.

Calgary rightly-so going all in, they could easily stand pat now. A solid 3C rental who, you never know, may resign with them. 20 goal, 40 point center with experience really helps them and at the price of a low 2nd and 3rd isn't bad at all.

These depth sort of deals now are what usually get teams deep through the playoffs.

Not sure why Nashville would do this, they're still very much in the playoff mix and could easily face Calgary in the 1st round...

Jarnkrok was playing for Seattle, not Nashville.

Right now.......wait until that first big domino drops when a contender makes a big move.

We'll see. I'm all for a move if the package includes an ace prospect. I just feel that right now execs value longevity more than a chance to go all in right now.

That's all anyone wants.  Teams that are true contenders, right now, care about one thing, winning a Cup before their window closes
