Rough day. I don’t get that if you weren’t going to sell why not keep Motte? If it’s only a 4th round pick that’s like a 7% chance you get an NHL player. There’s still a chance we could make the playoffs but subtracting Motte from the locker room and lineup doesn’t seem worth it. I would have kept him and risked him walking for nothing if we were standing pat on all the other rumoured players.

Glad to see JR and Co. stand pat (for the most part) and not give in to the itchy trigger finger.

I do believe, as most do, that changes are coming but, imo, changes should be made after the emotions of a season are over and a complete picture of strengths and weaknesses can be drawn. I also think knowing where teams fall in the draft picture is important.

I think the draft is the better time to make changes to a roster.

Jeez, I can't believe what I'm reading in the Motte trade thread in regards to new management.

 

- We cleared cap, got capital.

- Motte was market value, emotional connection to the player doesn't make them more valuable to the rest of the league.

- Every other player is still on contract and can be dealt in the off season, where most of our moves are likely to happen, as has been reported the whole time. No need to make knee jerk trades.

- New management IS following their STRATEGY. Taking their time and making moves that support that is crucial and something past management never did. Let them take their time and create a cup contender.
