You hit the nail on the head. I've coached sports for almost 25 years and the mental side of the game is often what makes players / teams great and is very tough to coach but one I've always focused on. They need to figure out how to rid themselves of the "Whoa is me / Here we go again" mentality. If Bruce can't coach that side of the game, bring in a specialist.

Trying to figure out who gets Bedard as a roomie no doubt

That's the kind of positivity we need. This man/woman/non binary (idfk anymore) still believes we can win a lottery. Hot damn. That idea died in me after we dropped from 2 to 5 in back to back drafts.

On a serious note, maybe we need OEL to pull a Draymond Green and start swinging. Nothin' gets the team going like some team on team violence.

On an actual serious note hopefully this meeting is not about who gets to play as McDavid in NHL 23.

This starts at the top with ownership. The rinse/repeat of sub-par teams have to stop. Do a proper rebuild or give management the reins to make a major shakeup; none of this trade Stillman for Dickinson ....have we not seen Benning do this for 8 years?

Fans will walk yet again seeing how they continue to rollout the same lineup plagued with the same issues with an AHL coaching staff (outside BB).

The real problem is we have no leader on defence. Hughes is an offensive guy and very quiet. I was hoping it would be OEL but he doesn't seem to be a super loud guy. I think Myers would usually be the one but he's injured, and it's a bit too much to ask of Schenn. In net I doubt Demko is a loud leader either.

We have guys like Miller, Bo and Petey up front but who's organising this shambles of a defence? For me it should be OEL.

We really miss guys like Bieksa, Willie Mitchell or even Luongo who would rally the defence around them.

The Canucks next 3 games are big ones. CBJ who are in the same boat, but we face them back to back and have a dreadful record with these, then Minny who are winless and then a terrible Buffalo team.

There's a good chance here that we win 3 in a row and all these woes are behind us.

Lose 4 in a row though and we're in deep trouble, and even Minnesota and Buffalo will think they can snag easy wins.

If we lose the next 4 in a row our season will be over by Halloween - the quickest in Canucks history!

"I think right now, 'mentally weak.

THIS IS THE PROBLEM.

This team is full of nice guys. We're to afraid to bring in an Evander Kane type of guy.

Look at the grit on our 82 team    the 2011 team.

WE

ARE

MENTALLY

SOFT

Can you make players who are mentally soft mentally tough.  I don't think so, they will always default back to that mentality if that's the way they are.

That is why I said in an earlier post about Keslers attitude.  Made him unlikable but he had an attitude that pumped up his teammates while on the ice.

Love Bo, JT,   they are keepers and not the problem.

But we are missing a certain kind of leader.

The real leader of our 2011 team was Kesler not Hank.

When you get scored on you shouldn't hang your head you should get pissed off.

Again, the dcorp hasn't really been the issue

i want to see what this team can do with Mikheyev and Myers in the lineup before start trading.
we have all the talent in this lineup, we just want to break the 600th win curse.

I dont see that much talent on D except for Hughes. Myers can help but he is barely top 4 himself, he was 3rd pairing on jets 5 years ago. Maybe tell Allvin to get us some damn defensemen

Well, the thing is, people have been crapping about the D corps under the previous regime. Then suddenly after the new regime comes in, people praise the new management for all these 'changes'.

I am surprised by how bad the Canucks are doing, but I'm also a bit surprised at the extent that people are willing to lie to themselves. The new management has done so little to address the so-called issues of the team, which includes the defense. I've been calling it as it is.

The D corp consisting of

Hughes-OEL

Schenn-Stillman

Juulsen-Boroughs

has not been the issue?? Not only is it an issue, it is a major issue as to why we are last in PK and cant hold the lead. Aside from the D, we got weaker when we didnt sign Brad Shaw and signed Mike Yeo which is a huge downgrade.

You’re making up arguments.

People have praised how deep the team is offensively.

But, people have also said and complained that not enough was done on the defensive side.

People are entitled to be happy with one end and not the other.

The new management changed our defense? please tell me what were the changes? Stillman, an AHL defender added? what else? I mean they added to the forward group but never addressed our major weakness so how did the team improve drastically if we didnt even address our major weakness from last season. All otger NHL fans and experts are saying Canucks are very weak on D, so I guess Canucks fans are blind to that fact. If anyone thinks we can make playoffs with this D, they are delusional.
