Guys are saying get him back Tocchet will teach him

Do you mean his friends (worst crew ever) and agent?

No other “guys” are saying that.  The dude just washed out of a 2nd tier Swiss league who would rather not have him for their playoff run.

Tocchet isn’t Jesus… he can’t turn water into wine, and can’t turn a crappy player and human into an NHLer.

Sounds like you can have a word with him to get him on track

This is just the biggest "I told you so" that keeps on giving. I remember the draft thread blowing off, maybe 75% of CDC wanted Virtanen drafted and I was one of the few rooting for the Euro-softies Nylander or (less so) Ehlers.

It's just fun to look back now and see where these other guys are. Nylander has 61 points in 54 games with Toronto. Sure, their offence is inflated, but a big reason why is Nylander. His cap hit? The same as Boeser's...

Ehler's been banged up but he's over a PPG this year too and again, cap hit of 6M.

Looking back at the 2014 draft players were taken all over the place so it's not just JB's fault. Draisaitl at 3rd overall taken after Reinhart is probably the worst one. Kevin Fiala taken right after Nick Ritchie. Michael Dal Colle had some rediculous hype and was taken just before Virtanen. A re-draft of the 2014 draft probably sees the most players move around, I don't think any of the top-20 were picked in the right order. Pastrnak was taken right after we took McCann. What a mess of a draft.

Anyway, good to see we've been just 1 pick off a team with Nylander and Tkachuk playing with Pettersson. Would have been the NHL's best line for a solid decade. I know you can't play the "what if" game, but we're talking about just 1 pick difference here.

75%...?
doubt that...

As far as I remember, the vast majority wanted Nylander or Ehlers (I wanted Ehlers)....

I liked Ehlers personally. He did a lot of the heavy lifting in juniors playing in all situations, PK, and was gritty for a smaller guy.

One of my better draft successes was Pasternak. I was one of few beating the drum for him. Although funny enough I kind of liked him because his name reminded of a Ukrainian kid I grew up with in Saskatchewan.

I know...

I remember that year clearly... I was so cheesed of with the JV pick. But tbh also understood, why they drafted him as we were desperately short on some size and muscle.
unfortunately he didn't grow as well as we hoped for, and drspite 1000s chances, he didn't get it...

But definitely will question the 3 out of 4 fans wanted JV....

Yeah I was concerned over his lack of playmaking and overall game. I had no idea he was lacking personal drive too. In all fairness gifting him an NHL position was a huge factor in the way it played out too. As stated previously that was one unpredictable draft. I wonder where JV surfaces now.

The closest bar is my thinking

I wanted Nylander because his father was a former NHLer.  So figured maybe some skills would have rubbed off on him and maybe have a better chance of making the NHL.
